He has sleeping patterns... meaning, you can clearly tell when he is sleeping or awake. Heck, sometimes though when I thought he was awake, he'd start to snore so I knew he was actually still in a sleeping pattern but then there are times when his eyes are open very wide and they look clear and he looks around at his surroundings and will focus on you and look right into your eyes and sound like he is trying to say something. I haven't seen him since the skull flap surgery though so as to his current state... it sounds like he is finally back to where he was the last I'd seen him... clearly awake when not sleeping and able to say a word or two and make a lot of noises. Which is a relief! Was going to be there next week but these storms are keeping me homebound. grrrr.

So the term "awake" has little to do with a person coming out of a coma. Again, it's not like the movies... there are many levels of consciousness to travel through as an injured brain heals. He's on a slow trip back as all those circuits reconnect in that noggin of his.

This latest progress, him being able to say Mom again, is encouraging.

sitting here with chi watching pinapple express.. he kept trying to sit up for awhile.. he dozed off just now. but when we got back from the benefit i was telling him all about it and he was focused on me. the new docs are amazing and they sound very hopeful for improvement and their goal is recovery for chi. i am going to work on a blog all about the event and chi etc and post it asap.. but for now i am just going to hang with him.

Easy Bro, her name is Gina and she has a family and lives in Texas where as Chi is in Cali. I actually sent her a message a week ago and she said she was hoping to blog something new soon. I just don't know what. I feel your frustration with the lack of updates. You may be right about no new news. But any update would be welcome to us all I am sure.

I noticed the funds raised have been around $90K for well over a month with no real movement up.

I want our "boy" back!!!!

yea, the funds have slowed down. $100,000 might be the max out. which is amazing really. that's bigtime cash. i never thought it would reach 1,000 at first.

believe me.. you can ask any cheng and they will tell you i am beyond commited. and ya.. alot of times there is nothing new to report. i talk to the family daily if not every other day and alot of times nothing is really new. the recovery is a long slow process. i'm sorry there isn't more to report.

i've got a few things to share and will have it up sometime tomorrow.

i don't know about anyone else, Gina, but i, personally, appreciate everything you're doing to help Chi and his family. It takes a lot of time and dedication to do what you have done. it's amazing.

i just keep praying for good news, as are most of us. and in this case, no news is not good news.
