simple question; what's your favorite decade in music?

as much as i love the 70's (zeppelin, the who, sabbath, crimson, etc), i'd have to go with the 90's.

so many amazing bands (and albums) spawned from that decade.

to name a few;

faith no more (angel dust)
pearl jam (ten, vs)
alice in chains (dirt, facelift)
deftones (adrenaline, around the fur)
incubus (science, make yourself)
counting crows( august and everything after)
melvins (stoner witch, houdini)
soundgarden (badmotorfinger, superunknown)
jeff buckley (grace)
dredg (leitmotif)
sublime (40oz, s/t)

etc.

90's ftw!

whodunit?

the 1970's.

sabbs
zepps
crimson
deep purple
frank zappa
iggy pop

to name just a few. but this decade seems to be also very interesting.

oldgentlovecraft

Any that had any heavy metal in it.

I think I'll go with two of them..
90's. many albums, some emo, post-hardcore bands..

and, can't figure out, 00's or the decade we're now living in.
it gave me much modern music, various post-rock albums (which now is my favourite genre),
post-hardcore, progressive rock..

theis

hmm, i should've made this as a poll. hm.

90s or 00s. Can't really choose...

For all the bands you gave the 90s were indeed very great (add a few : pantera, sepultura, ratm, etc.), but god, there's so much great music from the 00s, with all the new "genres" (as gay as this is)...
So yeah, can't really decide but it's good to go from one to the other   (btw, am listening at the Floyd while writing that... :P)

The streets have gone dark. They've been dark for days. We board up the house. Hide upstairs and wait!

i'd have to say the present. i get bored with music quickly. i quess it's my own fault i'll become obsessed with something and then listen to it till i'm sick of it. so i'm always trying to find the next new (or at least new to me) band to blow me away, or a band i already like to release a new record to revive my interest.

The 80s, mainly on a count of thrash, hardcore, new wave and some other inroads in genres like electronic, industrial, etc. I would also extend that into the early 90s, grunge/groove metal era until about 1995.

HOWEVER the late 90s bar a few good bands (Deftones, Tool, etc) were awful.

I think music only became picking up and becoming a lot more creative again ca. 2000/2001. There is also much more diversity nowadays so the 00's would be my second choice.

Jizzlobber

i liked what the 80's gave us, but more of my favorite music is 90's music, although i do like the 50's and 60's vibes too.

i'm think i'm going with the 90's.

though the 70's are real close, and the 00's aren't looking so bad either.
