I don't mind at all if this sounds like Rats!, "When Girls Telephone Boys" was extremely similar to "Elite" yet WGTB is far superior and one of deftones greatest songs.

i think the song is good. catchy and short.

i remembered when they released FM it was better live than on that disc.

hopefully chino is just the one big paradox he portrays and when he says, "this is our BEST album yet"! -(and then turns out its just iiiiiight....)

so im thinking in dispose, -chino said in that interview on the other thread, when asked the question, "do you think this will be the best deftones record yet?" , and then he replied, "i dunno... maybe..... i havent really sat back and gathered it all in full"(or whtever he said exactly), -my prediction is that the album will be the best, and since melanie isnt "that" great live, that it will be fucking awesome on the album version unlike the miscarriage of FM and it's lesser formed twin Rats...rats....rats......

so in adding this, i say the album will prob reside along white pony better than SNW when speaking of a "dynamic/diverse" and "experimental" album.

i still have faith this album will top snw and be more fluid and conceptually consistent.

just to be clear, snw wasnt a very hard record. when i think of snw i think more of the shitty songs like cherry waves, mein,beware,xerces etc, soft melodic stuff written by chino. this new song isnt like most of the songs on snw just maybe 2 songs so i think its wrong to call it typical snw-stuff

frank's job is great on this one. anyway its great on everyone i know but i really liked melanie i dont care if the riff sounds like rats3x its still a great song.

CAN'T....STAND....what occurs at 00:17 and 1:08 arrrghhhhh stoppp what is that? Doing that on SNW/at every show last year was enough.

Otherwise..the song has grown on me a little since I last dissed it in this thread lol. Certainly no classic Tones material and the offbeat vocal parts of the chorus are a little ehh but I like the progressively higher and higher part after the chorus...kinda cool. Definitely does have the feel of Rats and Rapture tho which never held my interest for too long. I want to give this album a chance though before being disappointed.
