I listen to better music than them (IMO)

There's much better music in the world

Uh, like who? Just curious.
Please enlighten me, Deftones is the only band that has staying power for me, I still listen to all of their albums.  If there is such better music out there I'd like to know who.
As would I

Infector

They are still currently my favourite band... but I haven't listened to any of their music in a while, just chillin and waitin on new album really.

I've been more into my post-hardcore and drum and bass lately.

ronnie dobbs

I never get burnt out on any band cause I listen to a CD until a know it from start to finish. Then I put it on the back burner so it still sounds fresh when I pop it in. I can go a long time without listening to deftones, but that doesn't change the fact that they are one of my all time favorites. To answer the original question you listen to deftones because -

Abe and Chi find the groove, Steph makes you nod your head, you can hear the vulnerabiliy in Chino's voice along with anger and everything in between, and Frank adds icing to the cake.

Deftones is my favourite band, but it isn't my favourite music.

Pretty much.

kalhan

okay, i like deftones because they make good music and they haven't confirmed yet, and seem very less likely to do so

even the guy who created this thread said it was gay and a stupid drunken post, and you guys are still posting in it. * shakes head *

So what? Don't see a reason why this thread should be locked or deleted or raped or whatever.

I still listen to Deftones and don't mind them.

I didnt say it should be locked or deleted.  Just ignored

I go through phases...they're my favourite band in the whole world but sometimes I'll go for a couple of months not listening to them but as soon as I put them back in my cd player it's like I fall back in love with them over again!

They rock my world! haha

sickened

I don't really listen to deftones anymore. I was extremely fanatic about the band two years ago, but now I'm cured. I still consider them as one of my favourite band tho, because if it weren't for defones I might have missed all the good music I listen to nowadays.

They are my favorite band for the last 8 years. It's just the vibe in the music wich I can really associate with myself or something.
Its definatly not the best band I know but it sure is my favorite of all time.

Im referring to the guy who made the "Why do I still listen to the Deftones..." thread... THE FOOL you gotta think of it this way, you may get freaked out by listening to 'tones recent album but would you really want them to be another korn band (who may have made 1 or 2 good albums who played on the whole weird noises and downtuned effect ridden bass thing an have now turned out shite). You have to think of it as... you've never heard them before, this is a new album and this is these guys sound. I know people who got into deftones from the self titled album thought that was amazin showing them there earlier stuff they where made up. So what im saying is they are pushing boundaries because they love what they do and they dont wanna release another WP, ATF or any of the others coz that would be boring to listen to. Another reason why I think they where looking for a new producer is because they may have felt they had there time with terry date lets hope all goes well...  Smiley

Umm.. I don't like Korn, I've listened to Deftones since '99 prolly, not since s/t.

And rest of that I know and agree with.

admittedly I was freaked out by listening to deftones self titled I think it's totally produced quite different from the other albums an it took me some time to get into it but iv grown to love an respect songs like  Hexagram, Battle-Axe, bloody cape, minerva sheer heavyness which is what everyone goes on about wanting "Do another adrenaline or ATF" id say self titled was very rhythmic, very My bloody valentine ish the guitars are just massive i think stef has taken on a little bit of Kevin Shields come to think of his guitar playing...

"In retrospect now one of the best Deftones records ever, second only to White Pony. With the songs more direct and to the point, the eponymous album now seems the most apt follow-up to its spectacular predecessor. Though not as jagged, it is certainly the rawest produced Deftones record since Adrenaline, which would explain its constant likeness to Shoegaze. But while most other bands falling under this sub category are no more then blatant copycats, Deftones rather pay homage to My Bloody Valentine for being profound influences here."

"Still, this record has it's moments, especially "Minerva", possibly the best song they've ever recorded. I like this record mostly beacuse it sounds so much like Deftones meets My Bloody Valentine, the best band ever."

"...which ushers in the hitherto unimagined new genre of metalgazing. Someone's been listening to a lot of My Bloody Valentine during their time off."

An original thought would be nice. Don't pretend like you've never read anything likening the ST to My Bloody Valentine, it doesn't make you sound any more musically competent. Not trying to be mean, but c'mon man, you're not impressing anyone with that crap.

Much respect,
-Matt
