why isnt WGTB forced? or rapture? or korea? or my own summer, etc?

So, you hate WGTB and HITE but like Pink Cellphone and Ratsx3?  I like Ratsx3 too, but as heavy songs go, WGTB puts it to shame. Lyrically better (come on, how do you NOT love the lyrics to WGTB?) and has the dark, brutal and haunting Deftones sound that Ratsx3 is missing.

Disagree with you on that one. Rats is absolutely brutal and menacing.

Wow, now I understand whats going on here.  WGTB is the #1 song on this survey.  Most of you are saying you like ST as either your 1st or 2nd deftones album.  And too fucking many people are saying they like HITE.  So pretty much most of you are kids who still think NU Metal is cool and just need to grow up a bit.  Now I understand why someone in another thread was talking about how they got slammed for saying linkin park sucked.  I like some of you a lot better when I don’t know how bad your taste in music is.  I think im going to stop coming into this forum.

OK, now you're getting a little too far out there for me. How is HITE "nu metal"? Shitty video aside, it's a great song. Allmusic.com hits the nail on the head:

It begins with a wall of feedback and thunderously distorted guitars accented by rim shots and cymbal fire before giving way to a skeletal six-string figure that seems barely able to support Moreno's singing, which combines the euphoria of a young, less pretentious Bono with the attack of, well, the Deftones. So, you hate WGTB and HITE but like Pink Cellphone and Ratsx3?  I like Ratsx3 too, but as heavy songs go, WGTB puts it to shame. Lyrically better (come on, how do you NOT love the lyrics to WGTB?) and has the dark, brutal and haunting Deftones sound that Ratsx3 is missing. And I'll take EVERY song in Deftones catalogue over Pink Cellphone. EVERY LAST ONE! That's not even a Deftones song. To me, it's a stupid little beat Chino made on garage band. Then, to make it really KICK, he added Annie Hardy rambling on about anal sex. At least ALL of the members of Deftones wrote WGTB and HITE.

Variable, it seems that you listened to S/T in 03 and were so disappointed you never really gave it a fair shake again. Understandable. But, it is a good album. I'm glad you're at least giving it another shot.

uh, hey buddy.  Hows it going?  when the fuck did I say I liked rats rats rats?  Go ahead and read back over all of my post and put your foot in your mouth there.  I hate that song.  It sucks just as bad as WGTB.  This is another song that I heard chino himself talk shit about.  Ill try to find this interview too.  But in essence he said that the only reason they even made Rats Rats Rats was because they knew that if they didn't all their little Nu Metal fans would get all pissy.  Pretty much they made it because maverick wanted them to.  To me, that's what almost every song on ST is.  They knew they had to put out something.  so they just threw some shit together and made it an album.

And pink cell phone?  I dont think I said anything about loving that song either.  I dont hate it.  I take it for what it is.  its just a stupid and fun song that chino made.  Chino is weird like that.  Kind of like black moon and shit. Kind of like teenager and lucky you.  They whole band wasn't apart of all those songs.  But its just something they liked so they threw it on their album.  They probably weren't expecting to change anyones lives or win a Grammy with them.  Just maybe something chill to listen to when you're high.

and it sounds like someone at allmusic.com is on mavericks payroll.  Because HITE sucks.  That's really all there is too it.  Its just a bad song.

Hey does anyone remember those 30 sec clips from S/T? I used to listen to Battle Axe's clip like over and over.  I hated WGTB b/c of the clip.... until I heard the whole song in a CD store while they were playing it for the release party.  Songs do grow on you if you give em a chance.
