Which do you feel was Hitchcock's best film(s)?

Trivia:
He never won a best director Oscar in competition, although he was awarded the Irving Thalberg Memorial Award at the 1967 Oscars.

He hated to shoot on location. He preferred to shoot at the studio where he could have full control of lighting and other factors. This is why even his later films contain special effects composite and rear screen shots.

Praised Luis Buñuel as the best director ever

Often said that Shadow of a Doubt (1943) was his favourite film that he had directed.

Müde Tod, Der (1921) by Fritz Lang was his declared favourite movie.

Bright Lights !..Why the fuck are you so damn awesome? Cant you be a piece of shit sometimes?

Haha, I knew you'd be the first one to answer this thread. :)

As cliché as it may sound, Psycho is my favorite...with Vertigo as a close runner-up.

It's amazing how many fantastic movies he's made. Probably the best director ever.

Rear Window...also amazing...such a mesmerizing movie. Other favorites include Strangers On a Train, Dial M for Murder, North by Northwest...I could just go on.

The man was a genius.

i know, cockface. i was just commenting on the fact that this was also news to me.

Variable

and I was commenting that it was dumb of you not to know seeing as how you posted that information already.

theis

wow, i really need to spell it out for you, don't i?

when i decided to make this thread, did i know about the mr and mrs smith thing? no, i didn't.

did i find out when i made the list? yes, i did.

did i comment on big city's post, saying i didn't know either? yes, i did.

now, was that so hard to understand? good, didn't think so.

now stay on topic and stop ruining another thread.

theis

here's a great little homaage to Hitchcock, made by Martin Scorsese:

love it!

Variable

oh you didn't make that list.  You copied and pasted it and never read it.  Then you made your Avatar and Sig all super hitchcock and tried to act all like cool movie snob guy being an expert on the legend director.  Just admit that you didn't know before someone else brought it up.

But ok, Ill try to stay on topic from now on.

theis

so i'm a snob for making an indepth thread about one of my favorite directors? at least i put useful information in my threads, unlike many other on this board.
and of course i copypasted his filmography. no way i would remember all his movies by head.

and i'm not an expert on Hitch...just a major fan of his work and i find him fascinating. stop presuming.

Nailec

as far as i know ive only seen the birds one or two times. the thing is. i felt a bit of uncomfortable but i was just too old when i watched this and so i was used to scary and phantastic stories. its the same when i read dracula. i was able to see how this book may have scared the shit out of its first readers because it was so latent sinister and dark and evil stuff.

i would like to see the people here not just tell me that he is a great producer and so forth. plz tell us why he is one.

cyppe101

I've seen Vertigo, Birds, Psycho and prolly others, can't remember for sure, but great movies all of em.
