i say the band should start writing new stuff after they're done touring Diamond eyes. Even though Eros is done, it doesnt mean they should stop now
I was thinking they should release Eros after this tour is over, that would hold the fans over for awhile. And then go take and their time and craft an amazing record. I love Diamond Eyes but some song feel like they could have been worked on a little more.

yeah i agree with u, the songs could have been worked on a little more but i noticed though some songs sounds complete as opposed to others..like rocket skates had a breakdown unlike 976-Evil, this place is death..but I like how Steph is makin his presence on this record

That is a lame ass review. That's probably worse than the Spin Magazine review.lol

Metro review!  ;)

Melodic, yet hard as fuck

A new album of Californian metal band Deftones is always a surprise. After two more experimental efforts, Deftones return back to the glory days of their insane debut 'Adrenaline', combined with the more accessible 'White Pony'.
In that way, 'Royal' wouldn't be misplaced on 'Adrenaline', while vocalist Chino Moreno shows his most melodic side on the fantastic opener 'Diamond Eyes', without ever making the impression that Deftones became soft.
Because don't be wrong, the gentlemen combine melodic and hard a fuck like no other.

Prince has really been growing on me lately. Awesome song.

Corleone

The more I listen to this album the more I find I don't like it. Love Royal, best thing they've done since WP.

Unlike other Deftones albums which grew on me. This one just feels basic.

Wax And Wane

I actually keep just liking it more and more. I took a few day break from it then stuck it in yesterday and found myself enjoying it way more then the first time i listened to it, (Which is crazy cos I loved it right off the bat)  :)
I will save your life..

And like many Deftones albums, you definitely can sense sexuality in this album. This might be a bold statement, but this album might be sexier than White Pony:o

You know, I have to agree with that. Although I still like White Pony better in it's own right, I also feel that Diamond Eyes is much more sexually loaded. WP is much more "vicious"... If you know what I mean.

Like every deftones album, this wasn't at all what I was expecting. But I do love the new songs. Already bought my tickets to see them in Brussels. Can't wait... This will be my third time I see em live...

I know is a dumb thing to be disappointed about but Im really bummed that there's no album art in the cd booklet.  The black pages with lyrics just seems like they threw it together last minute or something.  I thought S/T and SNW both had amazing album art and I was expecting DE to have something great as well.  I love the cover, but the guts needed something more.....  thoughts?

Shadow46/2

I agree, it's pretty disappointing. I love the SNW art, it really ties the album together. As for ST, I dunno. ...I actually never owned my own physical copy. >_>

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.

Shadow46/2

Also, I have a theory that they originally planned to have some pictures and such in there, but it ended up looking silly so they just said screw it. (remember the leaked pic of chino next to the owl?)

Just speculatin. :P

Thats a really good point, I bet your right.  All they had to do was throw together some live pics or pics of them in the studio and I would of been happy.  Im not trying to bitch tho, the album is great!  Im happy for them!

I actually kind of agree with you - I haven't been able to get into this album as much as I thought I would based on everyone's reactions to the music - I really liked it the third time around - but I don't find myself running back it over and over again - and as much as I had my issues with some of the tracks on SNW - I really love that album because apart from a couple of tracks the rest of the album is solid.  This album - I feel like I'm not getting it - and maybe it'll take a few months to soak in - as the self titled album did with me.  At first I liked the ST album - but it took me months to really understand it and love it - I guess it also comes down to looking back at the time when you were discovering it - because that always adds to the feel of the album.  I'm hoping Diamond Eyes will grow on me more - I'm feeling a little empty after waiting this long :(

I know what you mean about S/T. It wasn't until a year later when I finally understood it.

Diamond Eyes has hit a nerve straight away with me. Just love it, including the artwork - really don't know why so I'm not looking into it too much haha

Hidalgo

my theory is the booklet is black inside with no artwork because they had to rush it, cause they released it 2 weeks early due to the leak

Gaz

Its definatly a grower, but then again all deftones albums took time to grow on me, I love the flow of the album, each track is in perfect order, unlike on the previous two albums. I feel that SNW was quite all over the place in terms of order. All in all I love this album, I'm so glad they have come back so strong and are taking it serious again, and this translates into the live shows, I just hope they can keep it up.
