I let you get to me

yeah yeah.

ystb is so boss bro, that courus groove is so tight, chinos long screams, franks work, stefs chug, fuckin damn sexy.

You all should stop wanting a new White Pony, you cock-suckers.

It's like having a relationship with a girlfriend after so many years again.

Menos el Oso

I'm really satisfied with this album! It's good to know that each Deftones cd that they have released is pretty solid, unlike 30 Seconds to Mars and their newest cd, which was super lame and mainstreamish. Pure Junk!
I was kind of disappointed though, that Deftones didn't have an experimental instrumental track like "U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,Select ,Start" on this new album, but it's still good. I just wish I could jam to Eros, since I heard that one was "darker".

My top  Deftones song from DE would have to be

Prince
Risk
Beauty School
You've Seen the Butcher
Diamond Eyes

yeah the real questions after having sex with this album, is how many of this stuff can actually be play live. cause lets be serious, the vocal production is great with all the layering and some doubletracking...extremelly challenging material to perform.

we will see if he is up to the task.

I really think 976-Evil will be a tough song for him live.  But remember this is more of a live album.  They have practiced the songs a lot.  But Slacker is right there is a lot of great production and layering.  Diamond Eyes is gonna be such a sick live track and Prince OMFG.

agreed this songs (if they get playtime) will create an unprecedented mood in any venue.

Have been listening to the Ezrin stuff and DE is a lot like some of that. SNW should have been left alone with Chino's vocals on it of course but DE=overwhelming! And way above my expectations! ;D I couldn't pick a favorite track probably ever. The way I like my records baby!!  ;D
Pushing you back but still you ain't goooooooooone!!!!!!

wooojorge

I love beauty school sooo much.
Use just once, then destroy.

This album is ridiculous. I was expecting good things from all the reviews like Zane Lowe on Radio 1 but this has just blown me away first listen.

There are maybe one or two which dont knock me over but it really is heavy as fuck in places whilst being spacey and atmospheric in others and chinos vocals sound huuuuge. For once what he said in interviews is actually true. OK maybe not THE heaviest album but they're all pushing mid-30s, they gotta let up a bit. The low bass on that 8-string is so good, i like when stef just does little snippets of low low bass before going into some higher end stuff. His guitaring has really stepped up in my opinion. He's got some wicked little fills going on throughout the album, and he hasn't just done some ridiculous heavy riff the whole time.

All in all, the album is really upbeat and refreshing - such good energy throughout. My personal favourite is 976-EVIL at the moment (not many seem to be diggin it??). The song is so fresh and upbeat, nice little guitar fill, spacey vocals - nice lyrics, and really chilled drum beat from Abe!

Can't wait to see how some of these songs translate live, especially unusual tracks like sextape. In the meantime time to get the play count up..!

Fucking spot on.

In my mind for visuals to put this into concept, im thinking of the movie "lost in translation". Chino said he feels the album has a real night time vibe about it, and i think of the shots from inside the moving car of the bright night time streets if Tokyo in the film fit this album well. The soundtrack for that film also has the same mood for Diamond Eyes like the My Bloody Valentine track "sometimes". I also get a Smashing Pumpkins vibe from the music which i associate with sleepy city nights.

Im being as open minded as i can with this album. I was expecting something as tight as White Pony, but now im making my own connotations and realising i can only make of it what it is. It's more of a rock album than previous releases which i'd class as metal. It's alot more experimental which Chino has also stated. M83 vibe for "This Place Is Death" and have again always associated them to late night city drives.

Anyone else feel this?

Its one of the few albums where I cant pick a favorite song.  They are all perfect.  Cant wait to see these songs live.  Royal is my new Hexagram, its gonna be out of this world live.  I've only listened to it 3 times all the way through, and its getting better every time.  Their best album by far.  No filler at all, every song is an instant classic.  Good for them!

Hidalgo

i've only listened to it 3X also. man it's good

I fell in love the first listen but the second and third were even more amazing.  Every band member just kills it on this record.  The outro to Beauty School gives me chills every time.

Slacker

hey peps, somebody had to do this. feel free to comment or bash. this is just a little promo.

it had to be done.

this album explains exactly where i am in my life. fits perfectly. lately i've been having extra troubles with my chronic depression and severe social anxiety and i'm able to relax for once in my life. deftones always make me feel a little less alone in the world and like i can relate to someone or something. its really special. probably why they've been my favorite band for so long. this music is therapy without the judgement i usually got from my countless therapists.
