i hear you on that. the first 5 or so songs are awesome, some of the others im not really into yet, i just feel like it kinda sounds like an older band like U2 or somthing trying to change thier songs up and be hip.  Some of these songs are def different with the courus and his approach to singing them, then there are parts where stef starts to really kill ish and i am waiting for chino to start screaming is ass off but that just never really seams to happen, except for at the end of royal.  So i went to bed listening to it last night, and some songs are just flat to me so far, i am really hopping they grow on me but as of right now they just seem so forgeign.

i just wish the album sounded more like what was in the biging of the eros video clips cause that shit to me sounds so sick.  This is def a different approach, is that good or bad, thats still yet to be determained.

I absolutely love Risk. That Chorus is mega and Frank's work across the album is amazing.

stevetones

I just don't know yet.

I don't have a single song that I have fell in love with.....

But, I'm only on my 3rd listen.

This album sounds totally diffent then any album before.

I have no idea who influenced this one.

So... Listened to it for the whole night. And have to admit, lots of songs are similar to each other. Although you can hear lots of different new influences. This is really the album they put the most efforts in, it totally hears...Nevertheless, I wanted at least one song that was longer than 5minutes, there is not enough heavy stuff, and they're really going far away from their roots. I don't know if it's good.Don't get me wrong, I already love this album. I just don't know how to feel about it. i would never say that it's deftones best thing. Never. But they totally worked their asses off to put out that thing. The album deserves a good 8/10. Fuck whoever thinks that my opinion is stupid.

you love it but you have to get used to it? the songs sound pretty similair but got a lot of new influences?
u seem very uncertain of what u feel about this record but give it a 8/10 which is a pretty high grade?
no offense, but that post was a mess, i really dont know what youre really trying to say. can we please stay friends anyway

This album is fucking impressive. I'm amazed by it.

Chino has some Sade influences on this.

It's been a while since the last time you destroyed one of my posts.

What I'm trying to say is that I totally love this sound, it's original, fresh, etc, but the deftones roots seem very far away from that record to me. And I don't know if it's a good thing. But, and I insist, I still think it's an excellent musical piece.

Change is good go with it.

i didnt destroy it, i just didnt see the basic opinion/thought behind it. either way, deftones has always been about having hard heavy guitars mixed with melodic soft vocals with some delicate rage every now and then, the dynamics you know.you got that here. anyway as much as in white pony. that you tend to talk highly about. if u sit down and write down what u like about deftones you will find yourself finding all of that at DE

There Will Be Blood

Deftones should put a bonus song now on the album because all us asshole downloaded the leaked version. A extra track that no one knows about can boost sales. Even though I think the album sales will be just fine, its just a idea.

Too right!

100 pages. woahses moses. but yeah this is the album i've been waiting for them to make ever since self titled.

Penicks

This is strange, but I sometimes feel that Chino's voice is overly present on it. Almost a bit forcing, which is weird considering the voice shredding he did on S/T. I don't know, it's hard to describe. Royal and Sextape are still my favorites.

Anyone think this will rival White Pony in terms of album sales? I think there are a few radio friendly songs on here.

So Platinum Or no?

yeah but like half of the posts in that thread is about eros, so its a bit misleading

i don't think they'll ever match WP sales wise. that was their time, everyone listened to them and there was so much hype. this will definently sell more than SNW and self titled i think but WP came at a special time and everything was just perfect then. i'm going to do my part and get a couple copies for my house, in the car, my collection, etc. if you love the tones and don't buy this album then fuck you. support the band.

yeah i agree. and those cheap fuckers will always say "well the company takes it all" but deftones get a bit of it.
