What, no one here listened to the recent Metal Hammer podcast that talks about the new album? Apparently the one host has heard it and he made me that much more excited for it based on what he says and how excited he sounds about it. He called it both f***ing astounding and jaw dropping I believe and makes the drums and guitar out to be very big sounding. He said it has danceable elements and there's some good grooves on this album. He said it fits directly slap bang in the middle of Around the Fur and White Pony. Now that's got me excited!

He said something like the first half or more is super heavy and the latter end is more blissful but still has edge and crunch with a lot of guitar presence. Also, I don't think we have to worry about CMND/CTRL being another Konami code type thing because he sounds particularly excited about that one and stresses that it is BRUTAL.

Go Diamond Eyes!!

Go Diamond Eyes!!

Ah, that sounds AWESOME. My favorite Deftones album is White Pony, and I remember Chino said the lyrics were more like that, with the fantasy kind of element, so that just makes me hyped up and excited. Months away though...I'm very impatient.

Let me be of assistance :)

"Diamond Eyes" - crude verse filled chopped up riffs transit into a very melodic chorus, a powerful cylindrical finale is a smooth transition to the next song

"Royal" - a typical Deftones track, low-tuned, dense guitars attrackt your attention, it has a heavy bass sound and a spinning rythm

"Cmnd / Ctrl" - the most angry piece in the set, raw, roaring with guitars from the condensed, distinguished by a buzzing, "pissed off" riff

"You've Seen The Butcher" - one of the best tracks, a bit gloomy, almost horror-like with a nervous, quivering bass, sometimes reminiscent of early recordings of Tool, a brilliant show of Chino Moreno, who cries beautifully, without resorting to animal screams

"Beauty School" - one of the milder compositions in the set, with a lovely melody, a metallic background guitar a'la The Cure, with a very american chorus and Twilight Saga atmosphere

"Prince" - the number has a korn-styled opener, but it doesn't make a big impression, apart from the high pitched guitars

"Rocket Skates" - the single perfectly reflects the character of the work on album; it has a lot of thick guitars and heavy parts but also a very harmonic vocal

"Sextape" - despite the title is a delicate, almost romantic composition, with perfectly embedded, or rather drifting, sweeping Moreno's voice (applause for Raskulinecz) and a charmingly catchy chorus

"Risk"- (figured as" Yum Yum ") - an incredible contrast to the previous song, another sharp track with a raw, truly industrial riff, very thick, with broken rhythm, and once again stunning vocal harmonies

"976-EVIL"- the most dramatic piece on the album, with  growing tension, led by a metallic guitar

"This Place Is Death" - a true display of Raskulinecz's skills, a bulging volcano of sound with a rich, raging percussion in the background; perfect combination of delicacy and strength.

Hmmm...I'm very excited to hear Sextape or You've Seen The Butcher, they sound awesome, especially the latter. The descriptions sound good though.
