Hesperian Death-Horse!

I'm really dying for this album. I've been listening to White Pony a lot lately and I just really want something that has that kind of freshness from the Deftones. I love SNW and Self-titled but there's something unexplainable about the mood of WP and I think it has a shitload to do with the production on the guitars and drums and well, the production all together. Something about the way that album was recorded and mastered makes it exist in a whole different auditory astral plane that I cannot find the words to accurately describe. I guess I just hope this album has that type of production to it, you know? Something that's just so crisp and spacey.

Fuck I don't know what I'm on about but anyhow I just had an olfactory recognition of pussy and it was great. That's all.

I honestly have no expectations for this album in regards to how it will sound. I haven't even tried to speculate, and have put it in the back of my mind. I hope that makes it fresh in itself.

That's a good way to look at it. I just can't wait anymore. I want it to come out. I can' t believe we would have had it by now. Oh well. More important things have come up.

Hopefully is offers a little bit more variety than SNW.  I though Chino was extremely weak in Saturday Night Wrist when it came to his vocals performance.

Not that I want to get into a debate, haha, but I really don't know why people are so hard on SNW. I think it's a great album, despite the drama and negative feelings behind it, it's solid. If anything I'd only get rid of Serge on Mein and maybe leave Pink Cellphone as a hidden track or B-Side and call it awesome. The Demos are great but on some of the more progressive tracks I have trouble imagining Chino's voice. Either way, I think it's a good effort.

Well...

Beware has some really difficult vocal lines. Keep on screaming like a mad pig on Rats! is pretty hard, too. Cherry Waves is not that easy either. As for the others, yes, it was pretty easy. Especially on Mein.

Don't get me wrong, SNW certainly did rock - but it was just missing the innovation behind White Pony and the enegry in S/T.  There only stand out songs that caught my attention were Riviere and Xerces, which were both brilliant in their own way.

It's hard to describe - it's like Chino had an identity crisis with how he wanted to perform the vocals on a majority of songs, and what we got as a finished product was vocal production that didn't mesh well with the sound.  To me it all sounded disjunct and out of place.  This is all my opinoin.

I just hope all works out and something better than snw comes out. Not that it was bad, but it would be amazing to get another Around the Fur or White Pony.

Still thinking that SNW is their weakest album. Just hope Eros doesn't sound like that.

A friend of mine in Sacramento messaged me the following information regarding the new album, this is what he has heard about it:

"The new album will have longer songs, think 6 minutes or more, guitar solos, even more synth/keys/fx from Frank, lyrically will be more straightforward rather than cryptic, there will be more complex song structures, more guitar from chino, and faster drums (more double bass). Chi got a 6 string bass he's using on most songs and a fretless 5 string. Steph is using a new custom 8 string baritone guitar. Chino is using a lot of FX on his guitar parts so it doesn't even really sound like guitar that much.

Songs are coming fast and the album might even be put out by the end of 2008"

this text was funny when it first appeared. but i gotta say it is starting to get hilarious the closer to the release we come. the text above will be reposted after the drop. naive bullshitters ftw
