Am I the only one who HAS to listen to Diamond Eyes first then let Royal kick right in? 

i don't HAVE to, i just choose too, cause DE is a killer tune. it's one of those album that's easy to listen to from start to finish

I stated it, and I stand by it.

Everyone has their own favorites, be it:  White Pony, ST, ATF, and so on....   and I feel like DE incorporates the BEST from each, into one little shining gem.   I am in LUST with this CD.

I would never think/say that DE is better than Adrenaline/ATF/WP/or even S/T (due to some of the best songs being from it).

Although, it is very good.

How can anyone say that Diamond Eyes is their best album ever is beyond me.

well, not to dismiss anyone's opinion, but I think a lot has to do with it being new material. it's exciting to hear new stuff and you'd much rather put on the new album than an older one. when SNW came out I considered it to be their best work EVER for a while. then things started sinking in and WP came back on top. most likely, I thought this because it was new fresh material that I had been waiting for for so long, plus I was pretty disappointed with S/T when it came out. with DE it's too early to tell, but I definitely like it more than both ATF and S/T. they will never top WP imo.

that said, I can definitely see DE being some people's favorite. it's a such a complete and engaging album, with so much emotion. you can definitely tell that they haven't obsessed about song structures and production this time around, and instead consentrated on lyrics, atmosphere and emotion.

Well, I've listened about 15 times to the album now and I can say it's not my favorite but it's still good.  I only get that  "i'm listening to a god damned fucking deftones album" feeling when Royal's playing. I swear that's a perfect song.

But let's be honest. Compare Diamond Eyes to other openers. MOS. Feiticeira. Muhfuggin' Hexagram. It's just blargh. Like HitE.

It's definitely a different sound than all of their other albums but I don't dig it as much. Personal preference right there. If Eros is S/T #2, I want a slice of that cake right now.

yeah royal should have been the opener. hexagram is their best opening song but diamond eyes is a better opener than hole in the earth. i'll admit its a bit weak as an opening song but the rest of the album makes up for it.

- Prince
- CMND/CTRL
- Royal
- 976-EVIL
- Risk
- You've Seen The Butcher
- Diamond Eyes
- Beauty School
- This Place is Death
- Rocket Skates
- Sextape (not really a fan, usually skip - but I'm trying to like it)

And overall, I'd rank the albums like this:
- Self-titled
- Around the Fur
- Diamond Eyes
- White Pony
- Saturday Night Wrist
- Adrenaline

Around the Fur is my favorite album of all time, Diamond Eyes won't be enough to change that.

As for ranking the albums in order of my favorite to least favorite, how can you compare Diamond Eyes to Adrenaline?  Like trying to put Beauty School, Sextape, 976-EVIL, and This Place is Death against songs like, Bored, Root, 7 Words and Engine #9.  Doesn't even seem like the same band.  

Plus, I rocked my Adrenaline tape Side A to Side B nonstop when I was in high school.  It's had to say if I like Diamond Eyes more now (at age 29) than I liked Adrenaline (when I was 16)
