Does anyone have any info on what type of drumset abe used on SNW? any links to interviews or anything would be helpful. Thanks!

Hmmmm by the sounds of the snare on some of the songs, he uses an Orange County snare drum. The other snare he uses is some Tama Starclassic which is sooooo expensive. I know he also uses a 24" Zildjian Ride which is huge!

And his drum kit is a Tama Starclassic I believe. Sorry this hasn't been much help for you...

Thanks alot guys! That was what I was looking for! BTW, which snare do you think was used on Cherry Waves? the Tama or the OC?

Uh I'm pretty sure he's using the 6.5"x14" Starclassic Bell Brass snare on Cherry Waves...

OC snares have more of a crack to them, very distinct sounds. You can hear the OC better on Deftones album, he uses it quite a bit on there...

I've always wanted an OC snare. Only problem is they cost more than buying a brand new kit, same goes with the Starclassic Bell Brass... Oneday.

I think the snare on Cherry Waves might be triggered cause there is a shit load of echo on it.

He still uses the Starclassic

get a Joey Jordinson sig snare. They are pretty cheap (NZ$500.00) and are a pretty good sounding snare...

Haha, sorry man, the only copy I have is the one I got at the Hollywood signing. And that bad boy is hanging in a frame at my house. I actually remember something about this, we were talking about if maybe that guy just recorded the drums or has it been confirmed that he actually played drums in it?

wrong. abe absolutely played drums on 'beware'. the difference is that joe johnston recorded drums for that song ("recorded" means to press the "record" button on pro tools), whereas bob ezrin recorded drums on all other songs. that also explains why the drums on that song sound slightly different than the rest of the record. these are the facts.

Best first post ever. Was pretty obvious people, it's been previously discussed.

I'm not too sure if he used any OC drums during the recording as he's endorsed by Tama now and I guess would be going against his contract. He used to play OC's though. Obviously there's no telling what he's playing just by listening but looking at various studio shots he's always stuck to his endorsers (Tama drums and hardware, Zildjian Cymbals, Remo Heads and Pro Mark Sticks)

EDIT: Also, his drums are micc'ed up wayy different on SNW to previous albums. They sound pretty muddy and just generally not as crisp or articulate as previous efforts. Micing and EQ'ing is 90% of how a drumset sounds pretty much.

abe uses the bell brass of course but he also has the starclassic bubinga snare to the left of his bell brass he uses that on the start of cherrywave when he busts the 16th note rudiments but durin the chorus and what have you he obviously uses the other snare

and on the mic'ing he just mic'd the snare and the kick the rest is room mic in DRUM magazine he said that they were looking for a bigger sound and how much steph takes up sound space and drowns out the drums but they did change mics he was using either senheiser or audix but hes using shure mics now

listen to this man, he's telling the truth. But that TAMA profile is kinda off again i think...Abe has changed his kit(s) a lot lately...

btw, i just clicked "set-up report" on that site...and the layout there looks more recent though
