To those that like Baroness this might not be good

Savannah, Georgia-based quartet BARONESS was involved in a road accident on August 15, 2012 in England when the band's tour bus reportedly plummeted for 30 feet over a viaduct after going through a security barrier during heavy rain. Nine people, including the four members of the group, were sent to the hospital, two of them with serious injuries. BARONESS frontman John Baizley and guitarist Peter Adams have since played a handful of acoustic shows and the band has scheduled an appearance at this year's Bonnaroo festival, set to take place June 13-16 in Manchester, Tennessee.

Baizley has now issued the following update on BARONESS' current status and future activities:

"Nothing can truly prepare you for a brush with death. The event is unique one, singular to the observer. Trust me, you don't want to invite the experience.

"Our bus accident left indelible marks, external and internal, physical and mental, you name it. Each of the nine of us went through and continues to go through an entirely different, yet common experience. We are tied to each other by a trauma, which, despite its damage, has been made individually easier through our shared ordeal. While I would never wish the incident on anyone, I cannot imagine going through that wreck alone.

"Thankfully, injury was not dealt out evenly; unfortunately, it was dealt in great supply. Each of the nine of us now finds our self in a drastically different circumstance, and we each move forward accordingly.
"There are two important things to note. First, we are all healthy. We are recovering at different rates, and we'll all be fine in the end. Second, BARONESS has made a commitment to pick up where we left off, and get back out on tour, where we belong. In fact, I am personally staking my recovery on this principle; it gives me direction and something to look forward to (finally).
"However, for some of us, the accident necessitated a change that would prevent them from performing music or touring. It is with sadness that we must announce that [bassist] Matt Maggioni and [drummer] Allen Blickle will not continue touring with BARONESS. The details of their departure are not sensational; they do not come with hard feelings. Nor are the details going to be public; suffice it to say we'd like to keep to ourselves the finer points of this situation, to respect the privacy of all involved.
"While the nine of us must respect the significance of the bus accident in Bath, we must also move away from it and get back to our lives. Simply put, some of the effects and injuries were severe enough to prohibit further activity in BARONESS.
"While we would never have asked them to leave; we have the utmost sympathy for this situation, and in earnest, we wish Matt and Allen the best in the future. In their stead, we have found two musicians who can approach our music with passion and vitality and help get us back out on tour to finish what was seemingly cut short last August."

^ yeah it fucking sucks.

Allen Bickle was a beast on the drums. Loved his style.

Also, this should've been posted in the sludge/etc thread.

bright lights, big city

So are they completely out of the band then? For recording AND touring then?

Either way that does suck. Theis is right - Bickle was a beast on drums, but just as a whole, they all played so well together live.

can anyone recommend me some new music? I've been listening to a lot of this sort of stuff lately and I'm looking for more, I'm pretty open to everything some current stuff I listen to is Mogwai, CFCF, Telefon Tel Aviv,Beacon, Sigur Ros, M83,Northcape, Godspeed You!,Explosions in the Sky, God is an astronaut and others so any stuff like that would be good. I've also been listening to the Clam Casino EP a lot so I would really like some similar stuff to that, I don't really like the more hip hop beat stuff but I love the style of his Rainforest stuff.

Bibio isn't exactly the correct genre for this thread, but i thought maybe it would be most fitting. Anyway, this is coming soon:

The Green E.P. Sampler

Silver wilkinson was my favorite album of last year, so i'm all sorts of stoked for more material.

Really good, It keeps you grounded. I find that soothing.

I am looking forward to Junius, Blueneck, Jakob, This Will Destroy You, Mono, but especially ATOMIS  they are looking to release their debut album in 2014.
'ATOMIS is now scheduled to record with three-time Grammy award winning producer David Bottrill (Tool, Silverchair, Muse, King Crimson, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Sour).'
Recommended if you like: Isis, Cult of Luna, Neurosis, Pelican, Opeth, Tool. Sounds promising, at least.
