My Dying Bride was one of those bands i always meant to check out, but never got around to.

until like two months ago, and i punish myself for not listening sooner.

fucking awesome.

i bought four albums immediately, and intend to track down the entire discography.

haven't heard it but there hasn't been anything too amazing on the death metal front this year. The new Nile was awesome!

Oh I've heard of that one, did they release that this year? I thought they only released Annihilation Of The Wicked in 2006, that's fast work. Anyways I must now obtain that album!

AotW was released in may 2005 and Ithyphallic in july 2007. That's pretty normal pace, yes?

But they're both good albums.

I don't really know what your definition of death metal equates to, but the Cephalic Carnage album from this past year is definitely a must-get for any big extreme metal fans. I know a lot of people preferred anomalies a little more to this year's release, xenosapien; but this is definitely their most coherent album to date, and it is still extremely punishing. I would definitely put this in my top 10 for 2007, and it is probably right up there with TDEP, Neurosis, and Pig Destroyer for my favorite metal albums of the year.
