hidalgo, just stop there yeah.  What your sayin is based on a guess and is definately wrong.

I live in quite a stuck up area of england where its mostly white in this town and ive not been to a rock club or show where there isnt a blatant mix of  every ethnicity.  Every band ive been in has been multi-cultural too.
if anything its mainly the d&b and dance music clubs full of skin headed angry white boys and pretty much everything else has a normal mix of everyone.

Ignorance breeds ignorance so rethink before posting right.
and you'd lose your bet.
i've rethought and i'm sticking to my story, it's a fact really

not really, the percentage of them who really listen to rock and metal is pretty damn low i bet. i just wish they'd embrace it more, like how us white folk have with rap

If they don't listen to rock as much it because if you haven't noticed white people stole the ideas that made "rock" and made it theirs. without crediting its fore fathers i.e Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and countless blues artist. Now I'm not saying it was a bad thing cuz rock during its existence, has and still is such a fucking wonderful thing. If you don't believe me go look it up on the internet or wikipedia. I dunno where your located but I can definitely tell you that black people listen to rock and metal, maybe not a high number for the latter. But rock definitely is popular with black people. Yeah, It's pretty much like Hidalgo said. The majority of black people are pretty close minded to the kind of rock that's been around lately. I'd bet that more white people listen to and know of those musicians sushi-x mentioned like Bo diddly etc. than black people as well. They mainly care about rap, hip-hop, and R&B. It's just the way it is.

Cool version of Sextape too.

black coffee

He doesn't say black people don't listen to rock, just that it is not many compared to whites ( which definitely has a point ). Everyone of us knows black people who play in heavy bands ( Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage, Tosin Abasi from Animals As Leaders..this can easily be continued) or listen to heavy music in general, but that's not the point.

White Wrist

can anyone rip this cover to mp3? thx

Slacker

not to mention Body Count, Bad Brains, Living Colour, Rocky George, former guitar player from Suicidal Tendencies.

Don't turn this forum into a typical YouTube comments section!!

Great cover indeed.

from_musings

maybe now with sergio vega in the band, more black people will get into a rock band like deftones?

from_musings

as for the cover,If a female singer/songwriter with an acoustic guitar strip down a fast hardcore song screamed by a male loud mouth,to me that's something interesting.Or the other way around. It can be hard to make it sound good, a lot of times it can sound like shit, but to hear something new and different, another interpretation of the song, something like that is what i think a cover should be all about.... -i can see a reason and a purpose for doing it in the first place. But to carbon copy something, frankly I can't even see why

we are all humans.  There is no "they" or "them" unless u think white superior.  Its that language that offends my mind after watching friends of mine get bullied all thru school and after.  i'm white but after watching it all it offends me.  plus i got 3 quarter zimbabwean children.  Maybe i over react but its how i feel.
end this talk now anyway cuz it aint about what you are its about who you are and we are all supposed to be DEFTONES fans.  n the fact is, personally i got a lot of black friends even in this predominantly white town and we all love metal, even the few who are practically gangsta style rappers ask me for new tips.

Damn good cover, finally got my speakers to work after the attack of the offspring.  Who needs a wrecking ball when u have kids hey.
Ah some herb too, 4 dayz is too long sober, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, and relax.

defmkjah22

damn, i actually agree with something you've said there. haha first time for everything i guess.
I fully agree that covers should be a new interpretation, its kinda pointless for the original version to exist if you just copy n paste.
I think as long as you really are into the song and you feel youve got a new way of performing it then its as important as the original.  Thats why the tones covers are always so good.  they are obviously the songs they r covering but with their sound always added in a respectful and unique way.

unlike one which really pisses me off which is that florence and the machine cover of 'you got the love'.  Thats a typical example of trying to carbon copy an original but not being as good and ruining key parts of the songs flow.  (she totally flattened out the impact lyrics and sounds uniterested)  That to me prooves she doesnt care about the song and just knew it would sell like hot cakes to the british market while she rips off bjork style outfits turned into hooker looking rags.  The real piss take it that she ripped off the Massive Attack version which in itself is a cover totally different to the original song.  They even credit her as writing it on tv programmes and music channels.  Thank fuck that deftones do things their way without raping the songs they love.

defmkjah22

appologies for ranting  :)
