Quotehis sound involves nothing that needs a fender... if he did use one by the time he's made it his 'own' there's really no point in him having a fender.

i bet he uses different guitars in the studio, everyone uses whatever sounds the best for the record. and there are a lot of parts in deftones songs he could have used a fender for.

yeah true. people dont always use their endorsment gear for recordings.

Yeah most probably or Shaun Lopez for this record did the guitars, Cause i'm sure i read Steph does Chino's parts recording wise for him.

So i'm wondering if Fender is just his choice to use live or both, I mean it really makes no difference in the studio.

I dont understand that why does Stef use just 7 strings ESP. Nowdays you cant see him using 6 string. 7stings' neck is comfortable for him? There are lots of song what was writen in standard E and this case he dont use the upper (deeper) string. Or I just dont know how to use/play on 7 strings guitar. Can anybody explain to me?

He just has the extra high string for the standard tuning songs, Which is probably awesome for him since he loves to ring out those last few strings on most Adrenaline songs.

He recently said in an interview he loves his 7 strings so much that he's ditched all of his 6 strings live since he prefers the feel, sound etc. of the 7 string.

Also you'll notice Steph has huge hands, so a 7 string is no problem for him.

oh I see

and whats his tuning for standard and drop c on seven strings?

I know man! But the price of Stef' ESP I can buy an old car in Hungary :)
I heard that SC607 is a relly good guitar. SC 200 is shitty, but the others are good I think.

I really love the SC607's finish. Awesome! You can buy three SC607 from ESP Stef Carpenter Standard's price  :o

One of my friend told me: "Buy an SC607 and a Gibson SG, and you'll have everything". Dunno man...

He's right, but the ESP versions of his guitars are the top notch ones, exactly what he uses.

Where did you get that pic? they look sick.

I want to get a 6 string version before they decide to get rid of them since he don't use them no more.

Guitar companys have been stealing each others guitar designs and models for years... there being.... its an ESP! Fender would deffinatly not suit Stephs playing...

the fender strat and fender tele body designs have been copied by a lot of gutiar manufacturers (except for gibson) even if they're really big, like esp. esp calls it the vintage guitar or something, but it's a strat body guitar and even has the same pickup config, if i'm not mistaken...

apart from that, the tele has a chunky, beautiful body that people grow to like... and you can get a 7 string made from the fender custom shop (frank black of the pixies got one made which has rear-routing and two humbuckers (active i think) as opposed to a telecaster's front routing and two single coil pickups)

but i guess he got esp to make him one, which is the reason that telecaster bodied 7 string he's playing there doesn't have the telecaster headstock.

stef uses only his 7 strings now, he has five different tunings that he plays in so he carries a lot of guitars on tour... they're usually tuned to a B or can go as low as G# (like on when girls telephone boys) he's also got other funky colors on his guitars... the deep purple and the bright yellow, so whatever-brand doesn't surprise me too much... and like someone said, it's quite the opposite of having a lizard-cannibal-bloody-intestine-broken-face bc rich... stef's got good taste when it comes to gutars...

he used to use two humbuckers placed in, by far, the most unique position i've seen on guitars, near the bridge, right next to each other, which is why i think he gets that tone... and also a single coil in a slanting position which gives him the killer harmonics. his 7 strings don't have that single coil but i've seen him use a 7 string with one of those single coils live... custom made, ofcourse

stephen endorses esp guitars, so they give him a bunch of guitars for free and he has to play them live. all guitarists that endorse guitars have to do this but not always. like, andreas kisser of sepultura uses a jackson sometimes... and another guitar that has chili peppers' stickers all over it. stef also endorses marshall amplifiers and line-6 effects. even though deftones isn't a huge band, esp has kept stephen because he's given them ideas for some kickass guitars. esp didn't have a good 7 string before stephen's... they had a viper (gibson sg copy) that's about it. stephen's 7 string ltd models are played by lacuna coil's gutiarists...

chino doesn't really endorse a brand, he just plays. he used to play his sg a lot, he's played telecasters, jaguars and fenders too...

Stef plays an 8 String ESP which was custom-made for him ;)
