Like I've said a million times, this board is the only place I've ever seen where S/T and Gore get the lauds they do. Among all of my friends it's pretty much universally agreed upon that they're  weak albums and that KNY is the best thing they've done since WP.

And your anecdotal evidence means nothing. Everyone I know personally loves S/T and thinks KNY is boring. It's just boring dude, nothing special. It's basically just DE 2.0, the least amount of transition between any two Deftones albums.

You're out of your mind if you think KNY is DE 2.0. The technical quality of musicianship and cohesion on KNY was a huge step up from anything they had done to that point. The only songs from DE that sound technically like they could've been on KNY was the more ambitious stuff like Royal and Beauty School.
