Bam! Hey guys. I'm new here. I love reading good books and listening to good music, which has inevitably led me to Deftones fandom. I've been a fan since their self-titled came out, seen them live twice, and loved every single one of their releases. If anyone cares to hear my opinion, this is it: I think Adrenaline is a classic, but I don't like the production so much. Around the Fur sounds straight up evil, and it makes me want to punch things. White Pony is amazingly well-rounded, and it's the album I show people when they ask me about Deftones. Their self-titled was my old favorite; you can really hear the weight of the songs, if you know what I mean. Saturday Night Wrist is so underrated in my opinion; I love the experimental approach. I think Diamond Eyes is pretty solid, kind of hypnotizing in a way, and I don't really get how it gets so much criticism. That's only my opinion, though. Anyway, I'd consider myself to be a pretty nice guy, so if anyone wants to talk about music- especially Deftones- or about whatever, feel free to send me a PM or something. It's good to finally be here. :)

What else do you listen to?

Because it's rather boring to get all these new people who are like "OMG I AM LIKE THE BESTEST DEFTONES FAN EVER".
Not saying that you're one of those people though :-)

Thanks lostpilot, and I'm actually really glad you asked me that. :) The short answer is that I listen to a lot of stuff, but that's not a very useful answer, so let's see... I'm a pretty big Tool (and A Perfect Circle) fan, but that might be expected. I saw them live once, and it was ridiculous. When I was a kid I used to listen to a ton of Chevelle, Jimmy Eat World and Smashing Pumpkins, and I'm not as into those bands now, but I still like them. My dad got me into Placebo a long time ago and I'm a huge fan of theirs, but I really disliked Battle for the Sun, so hopefully they can pick things back up with the new record they're working on. I was actually a Quicksand fan before the whole thing with Chi happened, so I thought it was pretty cool when I learned that Sergio was joining the band. Because of Quicksand I'm also a fan of Rival Schools. I stumbled on Glassjaw after I heard the Our Color Green EP, and then I heard the Coloring Book EP and I was hooked. There's Jawbox, Hum, Sunny Day Real Estate, At the Drive-In, Abandoned Pools, Far... Lately I've gotten into La Dispute's Wildlife and Death Grips, and as far as more instrumental stuff goes I like Flying Lotus and some tracks by Russian Circles and Isis.

I'm actually looking for more music to listen to, so if you or anyone has any suggestions for stuff that I should look into, I'd be happy to take them. :)

Edit: For some reason I always leave out some of the more popular music that I listen to. I'm not really sure why. For the record, though, I also listen to the earlier releases by the White Stripes and Modest Mouse, a ton of Led Zeppelin, some Nine Inch Nails and some albums by Radiohead (their releases are always kind of hit-or-miss for me).

Far away

Just a heads up: make some popcorn before you log in here! :)
Welcome.
