I wish Deftones would design their own artwork especially for their records. They did it w ATF, girl was someone's friend and I think Steph maybe took it or someone from the crew?? I like for them to have their own touch rather than hiring someone and picking.

It sounds nice in theory, but sometimes it can go badly. Take The Faint for example. They were once an amazing dark dance group. Then they decided they didn't need Saddle Creek or anyone else. They started their own boutique label, had no producer, did everything themselves and said it was the most "Faint" sounding record yet. That was Fasciination, easily the weakest album in their catalog. Sometimes you need outside checks and balances to pull you back from the edge of awfulness. Without it you have bands with Emperor's New Clothes syndrome.

For the sake of my "hood cred" I made a pretty good stab at it too but anyone who's been around here a while or been a fan since them days would probably know it. V prob did too, idk. That shit intrigues me how simply an idea or accident turns into fame i.e. the ATF cover.
