Personally, I'm not sure. It's hard to say if all the material on Eros is even good; Like what if all of the riffs on Eros sound like  some riffs that are already used on DE, Koi, Gore, or Ohms? Beauty school sounds very similar to "Dallas" for example. Also, that Eros clip #3 monster riff is kinda similar to the Gore(title track) riff. Not necessarily the drums, but you get the point. Don't get me wrong, I really want Eros to be released, but thinking pragmatically, the band not releasing it might be for a different reason than we would think. What if The album itself might not be very good at all, and that's why they haven't released it?

Yeah makes sense, I think the would release later on maybe, even though it sounds similar i think it's more like a "they wanted it, we gave them it" but #3 im learing on my guitar js thr small part, and it's drop E!

Something I've been thinking for a while is that Stephen was likely tuned lower than E standard on Eros-- specifically, a step and a half lower than Diamond Eyes.

Listening to the studio clips, it sounds like he is hitting a low Eb/D# on that 8th string.

Tuning an 8 string in accordance with this actually aligns with the tuning pattern he'd set to that point. Ex: When switching from 6 strings to 7 strings (WP -> S/T), he just went down a half step from WP tuning and added a 7th string.

An 8 string in Standard tuning, starting with a low Eb, actually puts the next 7 strings in the S/T tuning.

Listening to later interviews around KNY era, I think he tuned up to the typical F#/Gb in order to have better string tension.

KNY was drop E, diamond eyes was in F# standard tuning.

Also.. they changed the set after 5 shows, show 6 after that is in Dallas which could be another set change.

Dallas.... Eros... ehh? lol no I don't really believe that but..

What I mean is that he likely used Eb standard on Eros, then tuned up 1.5 steps to F# Standard for DE (for reasons unknown, but maybe due to string tension concerns?)

In an interview with Dunlop strings during the KNY era, he discussed issues with drop E feeling too "floppy"-- I can imagine Eb standard feeling even less stable.

I agree with the D# 8 string tuning; In Eros clip #4 it sounds like Steph is playing a whole step down from 8 string standard. That riff is heavvyy.

I really wanna know how to play Melanie, I know songsterr has it but it's definitely not correct in some areas

Edit: I found a way to play it and it's sick, I'll make a short video on Instagram later

I've been trying to play Melanie by ear for the past 2 years; It's so hard to hear exactly what Steph is playing since it's just a live version recorded on a potato. It's definitely 7 string, I think the tuning is self titled tuning.

Well I js made a video of it, and it is S/T tuning, but based on what I heard and what I thought would fit i did and made up

Edit: D# tuning for 8 string is actually C# standard D# G# C# F# B E G# C#

Resisting to Melanie i realized when it goes down into the "ill let you take me" there's 2 different riffs that are played in thr same part, and before it goes back to the screaming stef does this riff 2 times and fades into the dun dun × dun dun dun dun dun part

Dawnofwar2010

Sorry im posting so much

But on songsterr I'm fixing the Melanie tab, I have my guitar in hand and playing along with what I hear and fixing it, i hope u guys will appreciate it if u play along with it and listen to it!
