to be serious: i agree with you. "emo" is not a musical genre. all music is emotional, otherwise nobody wouldnt listen to it.

the whole issue lies in the fault of all of the little fuckin middle/high schoolers who think they know what the fuck they're talkin about.  it's the same with punk and goth.  they try to conform to this certain culture they think is sweet, but really just fuck it up and give those who actually know what it's about a bad name (mostly the bands that get wrongly labeled as a certain genre, usually by the same fuckin kids).  then you get the bands that pander to the fakers, putting it in the spotlight nationwide.  i dunno, i'd probably beat up those kids too, but i mean i like a lot of "emo" bands, it's really all about the cheesiness level like someone else said, for lack of a better word.  it's all a bunch of stupidness.
