Hey guys, I fronted a Deftones Tribute band called Around The Fur a few years back. Please, firstly no negative comments etc. (I wouldn't sing for a Deftones tribute band if I couldn't pull it off -)

Anyways, we played a couple shows in my home town back in 2005/6 (pre SNW) and got a great response. It's something we all did for fun, and we went our separate ways. Now with all the talk of the new album, the guitarist and I were talking the other night and thought it would be fun to do another show since they've released 3 albums since the last time we played. I've got everyone back together, and they're down to do it.. we're just having conflicts as to which songs to play lol.

That being said, what better place to come to than here for opinions on a set-list. We are playing at a newly opened bad ass music venue here in town (Monroe, Louisiana for those in the area), along side a Radiohead Tribute band called Idioteque which is also legit as fuck.

Here's the set list we've come up with so far (not in any particular order) & it's not set in stone. Let me know what you guys think and which songs we should add/take out etc. The songs that get the most response etc will be the ones that make it onto the setlist. We're going to play a long set (between 1.5-2hrs) - too many songs to choose from! If it were just up to me, I'd play them all haha

The last time I was in a band was about 8 years ago. The bass player and I were talking a couple weeks ago about starting a Deftones tribute band soon. I'm pretty pumped about it and have tried coming up with a setlist for us. I think (with one break in the middle of the set) the best way to minimize the time spent tuning guitar/bass is to split the two 8 string records, two 7 string records, and Around the Fur and White Pony. And then save Adrenaline for sort of an encore. We would play all of the songs from an album before moving to the next one so not to waste time changing instruments and tuning.

I was thinking for order of albums:

1. Koi No Yokan
2. Around the Fur
3. Deftones

BREAK

1. Diamond Eyes
2. White Pony
3. Saturday Night Wrist

ENCORE

1. Adrenaline

Setlist in order:

Poltergeist
Leathers
Goon Squad
My Own Summer
Lhabia
Be Quiet and Drive
Lotion
Headup
MX
Hexagram
Minerva
When Girls Telephone Boys
Bloody Cape

BREAK

Diamond Eyes
You've Seen the Butcher
Prince
Rocket Skates
Feiticeira
Digital Bath
Knife Party
Korea
Passenger
Change
Kimdracula

I think you should consider keepin the setlist as short as possible. I'd be bored as hell toward the end. No offense, i'd be bored of the real deal even if they went on for two hours i think.

So jealous of you guys. Deftones is probably the band I can best imagine to cover songs from because they're so much fun to play on drums.. I sold my drumset a while ago, but consider getting an e-drumset sometime and then jamming in someones apartment would be possible without the neighbors calling the police.
Its obviously not the same, but there are good e-drums out there so I need to keep that in mind.

It's just two bands playing, us & a Radiohead tribute band. We'll play from 10:30 til 12ish and they'll play from 12:30-2.
I think as long as the setlist is good, and the songs are arranged right, a long set could be pulled off. People in my town love tribute bands..they eat that shit up.

That's not to say I don't enjoy original stuff.. I prefer it. Just people in my town are sort of lame when it comes to opening up to original bands. Plus, it's just going to be a one-off one-night kinda thing. Two tribute bands etc. It'll be fun.

The reason it's such a long set is because we have the time slot, I've arranged all this to happen pretty much. And when it comes to picking out what songs to play.. it's hard to hit all the main/core deftones songs and pick out which album material to play.. They're all great in my opinion. I want to appease everyone, play enough old shit but also play enough new shit.
I'm looking forward to playing Battle-Axe the most..  ;D

It's pretty common to play that late over here because our clubs are open till 3am ,proper bands don't do it but amateurs and cover band types do it usually

I live in Louisiana, all bars in my city close at 2am. It's a new music venue/lounge bar that opened up. Pretty big inside, it's got a 500 person capacity. (not saying that many people are going to be there, but that's how large it is inside, it's about the size of a normal House of Blues.. but I project about 200 to be there between 10 - 2. hopefully more, depends on how well we promote the show.
I plan on passing out flyers, and making it well known as an event.
From the people I've told already, I've gotten a really good response about it. So I think it'll be a great time

Goon Squad would be a good new song to play.
