After doing some more digging I found some information on Billboards top selling albums for 2010 to date. This as of  Week 29 of the yearly cycle (last weeks sales numbers).

Diamond Eyes ranks at #126 with 144,549 albums sold so far this year.

Right Behind Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe 2 but better than the Hanna Montana Movie Soundtrack!!! (Thank God!)

Which is less than Avenged Sevenfold sold in the first week to go in at #1 in the US.

It's official. People have bad taste.

Yeah, I like a few Avenged Sevenfold songs, but obviously they'd sell more. I think they're more mainstream than Deftones, so that's just how it goes.

sing blue silver

meh. avenged sevenfold haven't really ever done anything original. i guess that's why they're popular. plus i just plain HATE them as people. they have a couple alright songs but overall...thumbs down.

I think it's all relative.....Avenged Sevenfold are a lot newer and arguably in their 'hay day'. I imagine (with out bothering to check) that Deftones sales back in their prime i.e. ATF and WP would have pissed all over Avenged Sevenfold.

Question, will Avenged Seven Fold last as long as Deftones have?

Will they be as successful as Deftones over all?

answers on a postcard.

I'm chuffed that Deftones de-throned Hannah Montana

its weird that Avenged Sevenfold was mentioned..because theyre my favorite band next to Deftones. They began in 1999 and the most recent record was their 5th. i think theyre pretty different than other bands by trying different things in their music(their song a little piece of heaven is an example) but everyone will always have their own opinion. as for hating them as people thats judging by looks. i guarantee they are nicer people than deftones. and i think they will last a LONG time..their fanbase is crazy and it sickens me to see some new fans like them for looks. anyway check out their record "waking the fallen" my fave. moving on now...

avenged sevenfold aren't the slightest bit interesting to me, based mainly on their singer. his voice isn't unique, & it just doesn't sound good to me. his whole style isn't very impressive. i can hear major axel rose influence, but axel does it way better obviously. he weighs them down for sure. the music is alright, but also not really my thing

the drummer was,i think, the most creative one. his voice was unique which i loved for them to let him sing in some songs. its really sad that he passed away...never got to see them live with him alive. this yea i had the chance too see them. but i chose deftones! nd i dont regret it one bit :)
