Worst, shortest sentence about Royal lol. He doesn't comment on anything about it's heaviness and similarity to older songs and doesn't say anything good about it.

Far away

You think we should sticky a thread collecting all DE reviews. I remember there was one for SNW.

Good call. I agree.

Here is another from a blog site.

That review is EXACTLY how I think of it. Last 2 songs aren't the strongest, but damn. Everything meshes so well together.

I'm not trying to start anything but do you like Diamond Eyes or are you just a fan of Royal, because that's all I keep seeing you mention like an unhealthy obsession. And I'm pretty sure you've talked about liking the DE album in general, but see little to no praise for the other songs. Are you just a Deftones fan based specifically on their music sounding nearly identical to their old stuff or what? You want them to remain a more limited less interesting band and change as little as possible?  Because that's certainly the vibe you give off and it's pretty sad if that's the case, no offense.

Are you honestly saying that reviewer says nothing good about it because he doesn't mention the heaviness or reminiscence of their old stuff? Because the review is very positive and he says lots of good things about it.

Open-minded?  Here's some short videos to challenge your thinking:

You're looking too far into it man, I was just referring to how little he mentioned about royal, despite how many people praise it on here. I would have thought the reviewer would have at least a little more to say about it since it seems to be a highlight.

I have talked positive about the whole album on here, I love every song on this thing still, after listening to the album several times a day since leak. I haven't even been skipping to specific songs yet, been listening to the whole thing through every time.

I actually like this progressed form of the band's sound, so no I do not only like music sounding identical to their old stuff, although I do miss that sound.

Cool beans, sorry if I came across a bit harsh. You're right,  I was under the impression you were talking about the review of the album and not just Royal. But the rest of my post wasn't just based on that one post of yours, but a few of yours I've read. And I would have no problem if you weren't into Diamond Eyes just because it didn't click with you or whatever, everyone has their own opinions and preferences, just if you had such a specific sound in mind and weren't willing to branch out a bit.

No problemo. I know some of my posts kept talking about the classic Deftones sound and stuff, and yes they have changed when Stef changed guitars twice. But in the end, I immediately ended up liking this album so much more than I thought I would and more than SNW, and it actually has plenty of throwbacks to the older albums, which makes me happy.

But I definitely like the evolved sound they have now (did not enjoy the SNW sound as much). I guess any kind of repeat of the first 2 or 3 albums would be a little too archaic-sounding for these days (well at least Adrenaline would)...although if they came out with a new album that had music and vocals very similar to ATF or WP, I wouldn't complain lol (as long as the songs are still different).
