Definitely pick up the book, for sure. The movie is excellent - the book is something else though, like nothing else you'll read. Hunter S. Thompson was the shiznit.

Requiem for a Dream in my mind is one of the few films that is truly art thanks mostly to Darren Aronofsky and the way he choses to see...and put it on film.

In saying not only a visual but in my bias audio and emotional expression.

It's a movie...painting....CD....I guess.Great movie either way.

Trainspotting is an awesome film as well but imo it's on a different level especially in terms of artistic impact..

Each to their own.

oh yeah ive seen the fear and loathing on TV. i need to watch it again though.
requiem is more emotional really and that will grab you.  Ellen Burstyn story is the one that shocked me.

some say spun ripped of requiem.

spun and requiem are not even close. I mean they are both about drugs.  That's as close as they get.

and im not sure because I have never seen it.  But im pretty sure that the TV version of fear and loathing would suck my ass compared to the un rated version
