Cool, thanks for the info. So hopefully a single or two played live during the tour and then the album right after.

Nice! So safe to assume they have a release date in mind? Do you know if the release will be during or after the tour?

I can say the Mars Volta's new album releases April 11th. I

How do you know this info though? There's been no hints at a new MV album?

The news regarding the mars volta album has not been made public yet. I would expect that to come within the next few weeks if i had to guess

Inkblades

Okay, one last yes or no question. Have you heard any of the song titles?

Oh ok, I just saw a "leak" that happened for MV release date, album, title and all track list.. Hopefully that means we get Deftones news soon.

Glad they took their time with the new album. That being said, it's about damn time for the first single!

If it doesn't happen it doesn't, but I'm keeping my prediction of Valentines Day single or maybe teasers start. They do love their love themes and this would be the perfect opportunity. It is a Friday after all.

Allegedly the new mars volta album is floating around the interwebs as a 49:38 minute mp3.

They should start some teasers or make some changes on their social media this week if there was a release next Friday (Valentine´s Day).

They usually put out teasers a week or two before something happens. In Ohms they stayed quiet and even then they started 2 weeks or 3 before, with visualizers and coordinates on Spotify, then we knew it was close. But now we have zero hints, and don´t say they are trying to be misterious or something, they are so recognized and famous now more than ever I dont see them just throwing a single without less than a week with no previous warning or clue to be spread.

Unless the teasers start on Valentine's Day and release more and more hints until one single at the beginning of the tour... I´m just so excited tho can´t wait for it!!

The Friday before the tour starts would be a cool time to drop a single, which coincidentally just so happens to also be my birthday. ;D

I'm pretending they'll drop a tease at the end of the tour so I'm not disappointed in the meantime.

Just turned 30 and still new Deftones gets me twice as hyped as any other band.

It's been what, 35+ years since Stephen Carpenter put this band together and they're still at it doing something that once felt right to them. Not saying that I was pleased with the way they did things over time but maybe the fact they're not saying anything is good (for them)

Their silence does add to the mystique, even if its often maddening.

I recall most of their album tracklists usually being revealed in advance by the press, but it would be really unique if the opposite happened. Imagine them just giving us some cryptic teasers and a single, but no tracklist reveal until the album drops. I think that type of rollout would really fit this new Gen Z-influenced social media era we live in.

Didn't mean it like that, maybe it's good for them as a collective of people. All opinions and judgement aside I don't think with what happened with Sergio I'd want to be loud and proud about the record he was probably going to be a part of if it hadn't been for that, I'm sure they had different opinions about it and maybe they're choosing to keep it as a closed can of worms. Sort of enjoying the ride and trying to keep it healthy in a sense.

I'm still sad about the whole Sergio incident... I was watching the beauty school video this morning and got sentimental about the whole thing. He really did give life to the band when they needed it the most. That aside I'm hoping this new record can make me  appreciate what the new members bring to the table.

I miss Sergio, as well. His enthusiasm for the band and music was wholesome and his more noticeable bass lines always a highlight for me. After the circumstances of him leaving, in addition to all that embarrassing stuff Stephen said in recent years, it's difficult for me to still call Deftones my favorite band. I have my reservations for the upcoming album. The band needs to fire from all cylinders, especially Stephen, for me to feel as excited about their music as before.

I'm curious about Sablan's and Jackman's input. Will Chino step down from writing guitar parts entirely and leave it to Jackman, or will the latter essentially be a third guitarist? I wonder...

What they did to Sergio was unfair, but c'mon... They aren't rapists or murderers.
Sounds like they just didn't want to replace Chi by making a Sergio a permanent member.
