Ves is back! Truly a new album cycle has upon us to bring us all back together again!

LG95

I remember messaging Ves about Chino playing Ohms material on Mixlr about two or three months before it was announced. Kinda unfair that we don't even have that hint now.

I feel like all of their albums have leaked early, maybe they're trying to get things right this time

Honestly though I'm kinda surprised they're still creating stuff, there was a period of time I thought for sure Ohms was the last record. I couldn't imagine what Chino would write about?

aurdreyen

Maybe the upcoming album will be a concept album

All I ask is Stef going back to Drop C# / Drop C on the new record. Haven't had that since WP

Upcoming album is same tuning as KNY

Here we go again... I'm happy to be back in this space and watch the regrouping begin!

These are the coziest days. Checking for any small hint, shooting the shit in the meantime...
Good evening... and welcome to the white pony

When bebo posts the lemon party link that usually means they're finishing mastering so be on the look out

Why didn't they work with Terry Date again?

Terry doesn't even seem to be producing anymore. I haven't come across a new one of his since Ohms.

To be honest I considered the same thing - it didn't really feel like he was hitting on anything new lyrically on Ohms. But that's okay, as long as he comes up with some cool, unique melodies (which he usually does), then we good.

Doing some investigating... Since January 2016, they've only ever not posted in January twice, in 2017 and 2018, every other year, they've posted in January.

Gore cover art teasers started January 27th 2016.

Just an observation, obviously they'll tease it whenever they feel like it, but copium wants me to believe it's "soon".

Inkblades

More copium here but here's how it could potentially play out:

Announcement and single in the next few weeks - album in late Feb or March.

Announcement and single when the tour kicks off - album in late March or April.

If that doesn't happen, we're not getting it until the end of spring or summer. Then the next bet is them live debuting a song or two.

The only thing we know for sure is if rumors pops their head in, we know it's coming soon.

@rumors

Wish we could ping people like that for real

Interesting...I thought he was absolutely hitting new ideas and references on Ohms...some really lucid images of suicide on a couple of songs, Ceremony especially...elegant, realist descriptions like on the first verse of Urantia...biblical allusions on multiple songs...grander sense of struggle and eventual hope. It felt more epic lyrically than anything I'd seen him write before.

What I appreciate about Chino's lyrics is that he's very impressionistic, and driven by melody and cadence, in a similar, slightly less purist fashion to Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins — who would at times literally sing nonsense or mellifluous foreign words she'd plucked from a dictionary — but he forms them into something cogent and interesting. I think his best albums tend to come together into some common perspective that's not contrived or by design but comes out because he's organically writing according to his reaction to the music and whatever he's feeling during that particular time emerges from that reaction in his lyrics. It's a very organic way of writing and I think it must be why they're still able to create.
