It just sounds a little too generic and honestly too clean.

Really surprised there haven't been more rumors lately . . . they were shooting for spring/summer and it's fall now. Only time there's been a longer gap between records was Gore to Ohms and that had COVID during it.

Clemente Ruiz's (Deftones photog) latest IG story is video of one of Steph's guitars sitting in a studio while Goon Squad plays. Feels like something is happening...maybe. Hopefully.

some tidbits from Greenthumb from Stef.. New album gonna sound more like a continuation of Ohms and KNY, like all of our records you'll hear our sound ... but I think you're gonna hear things on this one that you never heard on any of them

He's already said a little while ago, 2025, but i'm not sure how in the know he is on that kind of info.

Any news? It´s the end of October and not a single hint about it :(

If they don't play something new at DDLD 5 then I don't think we'll hear anything til January at the earliest.

Inkblades

Would love a surprise single drop for Halloween that they could play at DDLD the next day. But they'd probably drop the song after they play it live...

That's if they even play a new song at all. Truly never know with them.

A surprise single drop would be ace but bands their size don't seem to do that thing now. Everything's teased a week beforehand so that everyone has time to hear of it and not miss it in the great news maelstrom.

As for a Dia drop, it wouldn't surprise me either way. Apart from the album that was released in a worldwide pandemic, there's always been at least one song from each record that has appeared live before its studio release (either as an album track or a lead-in single): Doomed User on Gore; Rosemary and Poltergeist on Koi; Rocket Skates on Diamond Eyes; a bunch on Saturday Night Wrist and every album before then. Maybe they're more cautious now, given how wide the internet now spreads live performance.

Nowadays, I don't think I'd even listen to a live version of a new song before the studio release, whereas I actually remember doing so with the Koi songs and with Doomed User. I have the patience to wait for the properly recorded version now.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too, especially with their newfound popularity...they might not want the first taste of new music being a live performance spread all over TikTok. Ten years ago, a new song live would be a Youtube video in a club that gets like 50-100k views, but now we're talking thousands of people filming video in a baseball stadium, so might be a whole different game now.

I actually needed to hear this. Been trying to rationalize all night why they didn't play a new track. This makes so much sense. Thanks for the insightful thoughts.
When people whisper it makes her nervous.

The show intro is from the new album. I mean it had to be, right?

Demigod Tuner

I would say, how can they perform a new track if they haven't tracked anything yet?
