I play guitar and it's nothing hard to play but I think that was the whole point of it Chino loves songs like that I remember him saying in a interview he sometimes listens to songs that are just the same riff over and over for hours ,That's why i made the comparison to Team Sleep  alot of their songs have those simple riffs that repeat over and over for the whole song with simple lyrics on top like "Natalie Portman/Live from the Stage"  I think it works sort of serves as a break from the more active and busy songs.

Probably because Entombed is really beautiful sonically I think the chorus suits the song it's very simple and has the same sentimental feel ,I think Chino took a Team Sleep approach to this song no big changes and lots of repetition it's just really relaxing and simple
Yeah i guess your right. I really dig the verses, i just can't feel the chorus.
I miss his insanely creative phrasing, and melodies.

I think he's made a conscience effort to keep the lyrics simple looking at Crosses lyrics i think he's still capable of writing the real abstract stuff

closertothelung

You're kidding, right? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Chino didn't have that huge a part in writing the lyrics. Crosses was originally going to be various people coming in and doing a song each, but when he went in for Shaun, he turned out to be the perfect fit. I think that's how it went. Regardless of whether he wrote the lyrics or not, there's absolutely nothing abstract about them.

"I wish I could take your hand and make it true.
Cause no one knows how far apart we stay to get through.
Can you say "I swear on the cross"
Can you promise that to the grave you'll take my name?"

"So I wait, anticipate to meet you tonight,
Come this way and I will bring your dreams to life."

etc.

Everyone's opinions are wrong! Rabble rabble rabble!! I'm really starting to get sick of this place.

i wouldnt go that far with the "no soul" argument, but...

as time passes by...it seems quite evident that the overly empathize euphoria that the album had in most of the people at its release, is slowly fading.

it was kinda predictable as it turned out to be one of the most unticipated releases of year...but im not too shure the uber-hypeness of all, did any good.

this is a grower, as DE was, and people just went all-in, on it. no courtship, no nothing.

I had the bad luck of mishearing 'raise' the first few listens.

Did you think it said "Rape" too?  ;D

when everyone agree that deftones make a great album, theres always comes the people that "dont want to be the same". they just try harder and harder to find that the album isn't that perfect. shame for you, you just too busy looking a flaw in a flawless record.

pony_01

can you all just rrealize that with all the laziness in the guitar and the predictable vocal style, this album sold 65000 copies? can you imagine if deftones made the album that aren't lazy in the guitar and unpredictible vocals, how many copies it gonna be sold??? i BET everyone gonna hate that shit lol

My favourite lyrics on the new album. Especially when he alternates the last chorus with "How the fuck you dooo it?"

bewareofrats

I love the desperate sound of the verses in Romantic Dreams and the dramatic sound of the song.

ok so my final review of KNY is this. Its not that great folks! No Passion behind most of these songs man. I never thought id say this but shit SNW has more "Passionate" moments as a whole.

With that statement i open myself to this argument SNW: Pink cellphone, Instrumental song, Mein, Rapture vs Poltergeist, Graphic Nature, Gauze,WHTY? sure if you put 4 songs from SNW versus 4 tracks off KNY the KNY tracks will win every time against that batch of lifeless songs off SNW, but with the exception of WHTY? those songs i mentioned on KNY have no life to them, they dont move me personally. The chorus for gauze is so non inspiring and boring. The ending to that song is just to save face and doesnt make up for how horrible the song really is. Graphic Nature takes bits and pieces of great hits from the band but ends up being a retard step child of Kimdracula, Digital Bath.

I'm about to put KNY below s/t. That would be revolutionary for me.
