And God I would have given anything to have a less depressing and shorter intro on Good Squad. Oh well..
I am on the other side of the fence.  I love that it has the intro and I like the sound of the intro.  Either that or Rosemary's ending needed to be longer.  What do you think of the album overall?

And for those who have heard the leak and the actual cd, does the cd sound better?

I agree with you - love the outro/intro - flows nicely and compliments each other. Especially the end of Rosemary; it's complete bliss. Also, It locks you in to listening, so if you start Rosemary with intent to finish it, your head is nodding to Goon Squad before you know it. I may or may not be drawing from recent experience.

As far as differences between the CD and leak, there isn't much difference - but of course, that depends on the quality of your copy. For me it went: the 192kpbs initial leak on Wednesday, a 320kpbs version out Thursday, I found a FLAC copy on Friday, then I "won" KNY on CD at a listening party in Toronto on Saturday. I just kept movin' on up (I was expecting for a vinyl copy somehow for Sunday, to keep this pattern going but my progress stopped there, for some reason). All of them sound good to me, but I may not have the best ears for this sort of thing, especially in comparison to first Rosemary casette rip.

The people shitting on Adrenaline are probably people who are now too old and mellow to appreciate it....Same as the Chili Peppers fans who kiss their ass or their "mature" music they make nowadays and are stupid enough to shit on their early albums

Early Chilli Peppers is easily their best.  Adrenaline is very pedestrian in comparison.  If you like it cool.  To each their own.

I figured it wouldn't be that noticeable of a difference but I was/am hoping it will be quite a bit.  The production seems better than DE in a way but it also almost lacks punch to me.  The bass could be more up front for me.  Or something.

I noticed after a few listens that I had my equalizer on in my iTunes, VLC & my iPod - when I turned it off, I was able to hear the individual parts clearer, and the snare specifically was given a little bit more pop to it.

Conversely, if you know better than I, you may be able to use an equalizer to actually improve the sound

Koi No Yokan. Wow.

This is, in fact, the reason why our solar system exists. Music is the highest form of art, and art is the sincerest form of expression. This is the best music. The universe wanted to hear this music, and so billions of years ago it started a process to have this sun and these planets form so that our very species could come to fruition, eventually giving rise to the spectacularly creative individuals known collectively as Deftones.

Seriously, fuck everything that's not this album.

haha this is one of the best things i've ever read

I'm serious! What am I supposed to be looking for? Help me out here. Dude sounds like just another Hed PE/Slightly Stoopid frontman on Adrenaline. ATF is rife with vocal melodies. Adrenaline just sounds like by-the-numbers nu-metal to me. I can't even hear these "intricate riffs" Steph is pumping out on Adrenaline.

It bores me senseless, and the only album of theirs I can't listen to over and over and over again.

Nope.  Those bands came well after Deftones and were obviously influenced by them and took it in a different direction.  I completely disagree with everything else you said is but technically it's debatable.  Just a matter of opinion.

I totally understand why you would disagree that adrenaline isn't their best album, but I don't understand you finding it laughable. Some people don't judge albums by vocal melody.  When deftones first came out, no one flocked to them because of insane vocal melody. It was raw, dirty, emotional and different. Many claim it sounded like every other numetal band at the time, but I beg to differ.

Anyways, there's tons of reasons to judge that cd, but I don't think melody is a strong criteria.

Speaking of melody, back to KNY

Too soon for KNY.  It may end up a bit higher but this one in particular needs time.  I see great potential in it though.

Yes, that could be an option but I hope I won't feel the need to.

I think I like What Happened to You.  It's different as a closer.  It's more laid back and kind of anti-climactic or something but it's nice.  I really like the bass in it.  It's far from Riviere but it's cool in its own way.

I prefer the particular creative period of SNW to their other albums.  I don't care what anyone says, it is their most atmospheric and spacey album and that includes WP and KNY.  Sounds way spacier than WP.

The catchiest choruses on KNY are Leathers and Poltergeist (this one might be my fave).

Got to agree. And on Poltergeist as well, loving it.

Whoever said way back that the scream in Tempest was awkward or whatever, screw you, haha.  I think it fits in the song perfectly and is unexpected but sounds great.

Truth.  I wish there were a few more just like it through out the cd.

I wish there was a 10+ second long eagle scream on here.  It would be the first time on record and would be awesome.

The scream at the end of Royal is 10 seconds.

In all serious though, the lack of screams is one of the reasons that hold  KNY back from being a perfect album for me.
What I enjoy most is a mixture of vocal styles.  Im not looking for all screams, nor am I looking for all melodic singing.  The combination of singing/screaming/whispering/whatever-the-fuck-else-he-does is what got me hooked all these years and is what I continue to look for.

Im all for progression, changing of styles, keeping things fresh, but I really wanted to hear chino let a few nasty screams rip.
Back when Leathers was the only song available, if I knew that was going to have the meanest scream on the album I would have been a bit concerned.  I would have settled for just a few on poltergeist.  I feel parts of that song were completely neutered.

It doesnt keep me from loving the album and playing it non stop. Just being picky.
