I have to laugh at the denouncing of Adrenaline. The bass led bridge of Nosebleed has one of the prettiest examples of melody that Chino's ever sang.

There's no consistency with this board. New record comes out and something in the past gets shit on.

I agree with the lack of melody on Adrenaline. there are a lot of melodies in Chino's vocals, but they have always been very subtle and not catchy at all. with time he's started relying more on straight forward melodies. but especially on Adrenaline, the melodies are a lot more subtle. that doesn't make it bad though. it even makes it very interesting. but overall a lot more tiresome to listen to than a lot of their other stuff. many songs on Adrenaline have melodies and parts that are pretty close to each other, which makes it a little monotone in the long run. same goes for the whispered vocals and effects on Chino's voice. it's too muddy a lot of the time. in my opinion, of course.

One Weak has beautiful melody

No defones album is shit....no defones song is bad! New album comes out then fantastic! But ive listened to KNY and Adrenaline today! Both listens gave me gossepimples , as theyre records always do!

Every so often I try and listen to Adrenaline - less than half of it sounds like Deftones, and the rest, a bit derivative, to me anyway. So I put it away - the ratio's too high! I don't like skipping songs, or half songs, I just can't do it. So I'd always put it at the bottom of any list. Every other album I can sit through.

The whispered Vocals and subtle bending of notes offkey in Chino's singing is powerful and unique to me. The biggest draw for me. That And Stefs Riffs.

I'll always hold Adrenaline in high regard since it's the album that got me into the band. It still sounds great to me.

KNY has a few moments that remind me of some of their older pre-Adrenaline songs for some reason, I'm really digging the new album a lot.

wow. I find some amazing melodies on that album. Many off key notes but notes nonetheless grouped together in a pitch and rythm that created tension and release (melody). I just don't hear this melody you speak of on Adrenaline. It's all whisper to scream in zero to sixty. And that monotonous guitar tone. I agree with what you said about ATF but it was the same producer for both records. The musicianship on ATF is what bolstered that album into the stratosphere compared to Adrenaline. Adrenaline is such a chore for me to listen to these days that I'm more inclined to just turn it off than sift for the decent parts. Even "Teething" and "Can't Even Breathe" from the following year sound like a completely different band. I've never viewed Adrenaline as anything more than a passable debut.

Seriously, I will not discuss this because it's not the topic but dude, we talk about Adrenaline right ? Okay it's not good as ATF/WP/ST but this was the first record, the sound is just dirty but even with that it's still one of the best, the guitar, the sing, the rythm.
And don't compare it with HED pe, I'm pretty like Jahred and hed pe in live but his record are so different than deftones record.
Deftones have never been "nu metal" for me and Adrenaline was little more than a "passable debut", after 17 years it continues to make me crazy.

wll my opinion  is that for the time, for thier age, etc etc , ..adreanlines is a masterpice, love that record when i was very young and  has a really special place in my heart,

.. its ok , if somebody thinks is weak , has no meloddy , is bored, etc etc for me it doesnt 

but i  do think is very dificult analize   an album 16 or 17 yeras old

I am on the other side of the fence.  I love that it has the intro and I like the sound of the intro.  Either that or Rosemary's ending needed to be longer.  What do you think of the album overall?

And for those who have heard the leak and the actual cd, does the cd sound better?

The people shitting on Adrenaline are probably people who are now too old and mellow to appreciate it....Same as the Chili Peppers fans who kiss their ass or their "mature" music they make nowadays and are stupid enough to shit on their early albums
