Does anyone feel like Abe was holding back on this album?  I guess maybe because I have Graphic Nature playing right now.  It just seems like he could have really made that song shine and he keeps pretty much playing the same thing over and over.  I would have liked to hear him show out more.

HOW THE FUCK YOU DO ITTTTTT!!!???

Yeah i know what you mean about Abe...maybe just mix it up a tad on Graphic Nature! But i think he allowed to have a lazy track once in a while :P

I cant put my finger on it but the ending of Gauze reminds me of another song by stone sour or down-open coffins.

What does that even mean, of course its not necessary. Its fun, thats what its about. You should know if you're 17 years old ;)

Haven't tried it, yet. I will definitely give it a shot sometime, though. I just can't imagine how that contributes to the listening experience. Don't you just get totally confused by it? I really have no idea  :D

His drumming on Romantic Dreams is killer IMO

I don't know. Some of his kick patterns are pretty nuts.

as a drummer, I'd like to point out that the drums in Graphic Nature are pretty busy. I'd also like to point out that they're very very similar to those in Digital Bath.
pray nightfall release me
then i could wander, wander to deep sleep

Yes, the kick patterns are on point. Hard to predict, his drumming is top notch. I would like for him to do a little things different on a couple tracks, but its not big deal. He's the shit, and his drums sound amazing on KNY (as usual)

I agree. Even though he's doing the same rhythm throughout for the most part, it's busy and very tedious to maintain.
Listen for those high hat openings.. he does a fantastic job, as always.

They do suck but that opening riff sounds like something off of Dysfunction.

Ok so just completed first listen. I really don't think I can judge yet. It's quite a drastic departure from any of their previous stuff I think. I think Chino is partially a weak link here on first listen; his vocals are almost quite generic, and considering he's got such a unique voice thats quite odd.

I think i'm going to have to give it some more listens. Nothing particulary stands out for me at the moment as 'WOW'. Goon Squad did get my head nodding, Steph's riff is quite monstrous. I feel Chino had a lot of influence over the sound of this record. I can here snippets of his influences coming through; some cure on certain tracks.

I agree with the too polished sound too, theres too much compression.

Why did they decide to change from Terry Date by the way ?

I think What Happened To You / Rosemary / Goon Squad are probably stand outs for me at the moment if I had to name some.

Anyone notice that Deftones posted on their facebook a link to listen to the album in it's entirety? Guess since it leaked they figured, fuck it - why not.

Also there will be a meet and greet/party with the band that night at Good Records in Dallas, TX on 11/13 CD Release party.

Probably because it's leaked so close to the release date, they preferred to let ppl listen to it on their terms rather than illegally downloading it (if they hadnt already).

Anyone got a link for the new album?
