personally,i don't hate entombed. i like soft music - but it's just kinda dull. like it aims for being a strong song but fails to deliver (imho). more like nice background music. maybe it's a grower. what happened to you is a weak closer, not like a finished song, more like an eighties jam or something.don't hate it, just boring. maybe it's a grower.

but i don't hate any koi no yokan songs this far - this is gonna be a good record in the long run (i hope)
god how i love the echoing on chino's voclas in poltergeist.. who's idea was that? i'd like to high five that guy. and the ending is mental

Have deftones announced whether they're going to do another webcast like with WP & DE ?

Nope. I doubt it though.

They published the whole album for free listening. The link is in their FB page. Nice reaction from WB. I guess few people will search for the leak like that.

KNY is streaming on Rolling Stone.

Yeah well no one upload any songs from the album on youtube. It gets blocked immediately (which happened before now also) but now it's like straight away bam blocked.  Can't upload anything that has to do with the album. I'm surprised that sampler wasn't taken down.

Fuck you for wanting to share music right.

Jville808

I'm a little disappointed in the album to be honest. Hopefully it will grow on me. I haven't had a chance to soak it all in in one listen yet, but I wouldn't say it's better than DE just yet. Don't get me wrong though, the good songs on KNY are REALLY good, but a couple tracks so far are kind of blah, like filler material.

That's pretty kwl that you enjoy the album, it's quite rare that you say something that isnt negative haha. I think Deftones should be very proud of themselves :)

Also good that they're streaming the album or whatever. I guess now that it's leaked and it's so close to the release date, they dont mind ppl listening but are making sure it's coming frm them too.

Mustang

pfft, Entombed is excellent, y'all. smh

Listening to the stream on Rolling Stone. I'll share my thoughts later.

Thats one song that I thought stands out the first listen.

Teknoman

After many listens I think Selftitled is still #1 on my list but KNY is an awesome piece of art... im not sure if it will take the lead in a near future (but maybe it will do it :P).

I make music too

Rosemary is probably going to be one of my favorite Deftones songs. I like how many different elements they put into that song. It's more of a "feeling" than just a song. Nicely done.

Havoc

My thoughts...Great album. My favorites are Romantic Dreams,Poltergeist,Graphic Nature,Gauze,Rosemary, and Goon Squad...I wore Tempest and Leathers out before hearing the entire album...But out of those two Leathers is better...Songs that haven't grown on me but have parts that I like are Swerve City (the middle to the end) and WHTY...Entombed is a good song but I haven't given it many plays yet. Swerve City sounds like Mein a little...Not the singing obviously.

They certainly love the dub type vocals on this album with those echoes.

Sounds great. I haven't got the chills on this album though but I put that down to it being a grower.

Absolutely love WHTY?, Poltergeist, Entombed and Graphic Nature.

Yet again No Grey Zone for this title, you either like black or white but none in between.

Same here!  I also wore the early tracks out and now I just skip them.  :-\ I wish I would have waited but it's pretty much impossible for me not to dive into a new song as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

For what its worth if anyone cares... have to say graphic nature is my fav.

i also can't help but wonder how this would sound if terry date had produced it.

THIS!

Or SLopez recording/producing the vocals.

I'm digging this. Diffidently more experimenting on their end which is a whole bunch of win. It's like Saturday Night Wrist's glossier prettier sister. Which is a good thing.

Caín

Swerve City
Very sweet bass line by Sergio in the verse. Great sing songy performance by Chino. Love the small harmony touches in the verse. Chorus is straight up banging but hampered by Chinos "Ohs" and its repetetive nature. The "She breaks her horses" line will be forever etched into my memory. Even if it's wrong. 3/5

Romantic Dreams
Very unusual opening riff for the Deftones. Reminiscent of Needles and Pins in a way, but way more moody. Also a prime example of how well Stef's and Chino's guitar interplay works on this record. Gives the song a sonic depth older Deftones sometimes lack for better or for worse. The odd time signature changes are a welcome addition to the Deftones sound but might be jarring to some. Chorus again filled with "Ohs" by Chino. This wouldn't be a problem, but coming off Swerve City it's a little bit too much. Ending drives the simple but excellent opening riff home. 4/5

Leathers
The guitars in the intro sound very uninspired. The bendings do not work and make it sound like somebody is tuning the guitar. The song starts out with a bang but I don't buy it. Chino's performance during the verse is weak both in terms of intensity and rhythmically. Guitar interplay is ace on this one. Chorus has a nice sense of desperation in Chinos voice which makes the higher register work. Overall decent song. 3/5

Poltergeist
Sonically the most SNW era of all the tracks on this record. The verse reminds of Rapture and the unreleased Melanie. Hard hitting and very bouncy. Chinos delivery in the verse again hampered by lack of intensity and lazy rhythm. Bridge may be the strongest part with a very nice riff by Stef and Chinos vocal line contrasting the riff it very well. Chorus has a beautifully understated harmony between Chino and Frank's effects. Great stuff. Claps are a nice touch. 4/5

Entombed
Very M83. Beautiful song. Outstanding by all involved. Stef's tapping gives the song it's backbone. Frank adds tons of layers and gives it the M83 flavor. Chino's vocal delivery is incredible. The new found appreciation for pop melodies just works in the context of this song. Sergio's bass breakdown is on of the most delicate and beautiful thing the Deftones have ever put to tape and have an almost funk/soul vibe to them. But the best thing about this song is the moment Abe switches to the ride cymbal in the chorus. Perfection. 5/5

Graphic Nature
The most unaccessible song on the album. Feels almost as if the band is playing in reverse and gives it a very unrelaxed and tense feel. Until the moment Abe opens up and unleashes a straight beat. Suddenly all the tension is released and you realize how heavy this song actually is. Very subtle work by Frank. 3/5

Tempest
The most sweeping track on the record. It is the only song on the record were the two guitars don't gel too well. Sonically epic, and naturally flowing it is almost flawless in all other regards. Great, powerful bridge that will get you pumped for the impeding doom the chorus will unleash. Defones' own apocalyptic version of stoner rock. 4/5

Gauze
Arabic sounding verse with little bleeps and bloops by Frank. The verse is borderline boring but once the chorus kicks in starts making sense. Still the weakest track on the record. The outro is outstanding though. One of the many instances on this record were the bands sounds like a bunch of dudes making music together and enjoying it. 2/5

Rosemary
Very reminiscent of SNW, Beware in particular. Chino's vocal delivery reminds me of Thrice's Dustin Kensrue, a little too longing and yearning for my tastes but it serves the song well. The delay drenched guitar is probably the best part.  3/5

Goon Squad
Nice intro, especially Franks drone. The song starts out banging, almost in a Stone Temple Pilots kind of way. The verse is straight up rocking. The chorus on the other hand is terrible. the worst part is Chinos looping inhale cat scream. What were they thinking? 3/5

What happend to you?
Everybody saying that Entombed is Koi No Yokans Sextape, you are wrong. This song is Koi No Yokans Sextape. Laid back atmosphere, very beautiful. Stef almost plays his guitar Chino style. Good way to end off the album. Lacks emotional impact, though. Pretty sounds aren't everything. 3/5

Koi No Yokan 3.5/5
