I am really glad the cd is out and people are enjoying it.  That was the hardest 3 weeks of my life, having KNY in my grasp and not being able to tell anyone, not even real life friends.
Enjoy the music friends! Looking forward to reading your thoughts.

Disagree. All of their stuff has different sounds.

IMO I believe this to be everything they are. The aggression, the beauty, the sampled soundscapes. The dark and happy atmosphere in one album.

Truly a pinnacle in their career atm.

If I had to rate the albums:

1. SNW
2. KNY
3. WP
4. DE
5. ATF
6. Adrenaline
7. S/T

The night is calling you
A star is burning out

From all the reviews I've read and listening to all of you, this album sounds like it will come to stand as the magnum opus they were always moving towards making. A career pinnacle. A watershed album, if you will.

I'm so fucking excited for the 13th, it's practically tangible.

Take someone who doesn't know who Deftones are. Show them this album, if they don't like any song off of it. They don't like Deftones.

I believe this album to be DEFTONES. Summed up in 53 minutes.

No worries, dude. I've turned so many people onto this band, I should get a medal of honor. Or at least a decoder ring or something. I think a whole new generation of fans are going to discover this record in time and realize that this band is miles above anyone else out there making heavy or sonically-rich music.

I haven't even alloweed myself to hear the fucking thing yet, but to hear that they've made a record every bit as astonishing and as ambitious as White Pony at this stage in their career is orgasmic. I knew from the moment I heard ATF in '97 that these guys were the real deal and this album will be my reward for making the journey.

I hear RX Queen time signatures in the intro/verse of What Happened to You? ... Not exact, but Abe's doin' his thing on this album, and his drum work is excellent on this album.. It's soooo goood.

Yeah.. I love that fade out riff stephen plays as Gauze fades out.

It's simple, but his guitar tone makes it so hauntingly awesome

Love it. When it's aggressive, it aggressive enough for me. Dynamic and eclectic. Goon Squad, Poltergeist and Gauze are some of their best songs. Refined aggression as I always call it. Not as raw as ATF or Adrenaline. But still good.

I prefer Diamond Eyes to be honest. At least I got one song I can listen to after all is said and done. They haven't lost me completely, but i'm close to fading from the band (as of their current form/style)

Just not for me.

thats a DAMN SHAME bro. I dont think they will every disappoint me man.. i hope i never say those words you said.

I love it...because I'm a Deftones fan.

Swerve City: so much for sounding like Feiticeira haha definitely bouncy, but very light-sounding. Love the halfway point.

Romantic Dreams: the beginning part is...the last thing I'd expect frm Deftones. This was the only one on the previews that didnt sound good to me. But 30 seconds of a song with a lotta tempo changes, vocal changes even, etc., doesnt do it justice. Nice. The vocals (or the effects on them anyways) remind me of ATF/ST I guess, so that's nice. Good song, pleasantly surprised by this.

Leathers: wen I first heard this I almost had a heart attack lol brilliant song, nice atmospheric introduction and just hits you with the aggression.

Poltergeist: love this song. It appealed to me wen I heard the live version, but I didnt play it much because the quality wasnt good enough for me to make an opinion. Album version is just brilliant though, unexpected heaviness.

Entombed: reminds me a lot of Crosses, even how Chino is singing. To me, it feels like a melancholy song, but building up into something happy or looking for some optimism. Love the "shapes and colors are all I see" part, lyrically and how it's sung. Simple but emotional. So much better than I thought it'd be frm listening to it.

Graphic Nature: three seconds in and I'm digging it haha. I'm not sure what tone I get frm this song. Definitely a bit of some darkness or something sinister or playful maybe. Not sure, but I love it, and the drums and whatnot remind me of Digital Bath.

Gauze: loved what I heard in the preview, thinking it'd be a favorite. And it is, but since I adore the entire album (so far) there's not really much in saying that. Anyways, I love it, just a fantastic song.

Rosemary: I dont know, I used to love it, but I think compared to the other songs it's not quite as good, but depends what you're in the mood for.

Goon Squad: I like how it builds up in the beginning and hits you. Another heavy song and surprisingly catchy. That said, not quite as awesome as I thought it'd be. Last minute and a half is great.

What Happened To You?: weird intro, just adds to them yet again doing new things, not just tryna re-create old albums. I think it's a great closer for the album. Cant really explain why, it just feels like it. Love the chorus especially.

I'm not gonna give the album/songs any ratings, because it's new music frm my favorite band: it's gonna be a 10/10 until the hype wears off haha. DE I was thinking was the best album ever, but wen the hype wore off, it was nowhere near as good as I thought it was. This album, however, could easily end up being in my top 3. Much better than DE, more experimental and intricate. Not their heaviest album, no, but not a complaint for me, personally. Dont get anyone thinking it'd be their most commercial or mainstream album. Hell. Fucking. No. DE is only heavier in the sense that it has songs like Royal and CMND/CTRL, whereas KNY only has Leathers in that respect. But man, there's a lotta heaviness going on in these songs, which to me shows they're still doing what they do best, even if they're not as aggressive.

As I predicted listening to the previews; WP feel with the optimism and clean feel of DE, and of course some new aspects. But to me, WP was their "alright, this is us going in a more experimental direction but still being us" frm their previous albums. And for me, KNY is the 2012 version of them doing just that. And no, I'm not calling it a White Pony 2.0, just the same kinda feel I get that it's them being more experimental. Damn, cant wait to see them play some new songs next year. EASILY gonna be in my top 3 even wen the hype wears off.

Downloaded the leak. I have the package from deftones.com preordered. Punching anyone I know in the nuts that downloads and doesn't buy. Super stoked for the boys that it took this long to leak. Might help sales a bit. Before the leak, I had only listened to Leathers and Tempest and loved both of those. They blew me away.

I love the whole album, but I thought it really started picking up with Gauze. Gauze, Rosemary, and Goon Squad in a row is sick as hell! Was anyone else completely blown away by Gauze? The first time I heard it was damn near a spiritual experience. I was walking my dog at the time and almost passed out I got so light headed. Insane album. I love you deftones. I love you so very freakin much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDITS:
That one part in Romantic Dreams sounds like Combat? And I thought part of another song reminded me of rats.. Thoughts?

Pretty sure I read a review that said What Happened to You? had a dub step vibe? lol wtf are they talking about?

I could be wrong, but to me there seems to be a lot more Frank action going down on this and that is awesome sauce news.

I love how almost all the songs blend into each other. It's an ALBUM and not just a collection of songs.

DeftonesNZ

I love how Stef's not just chugging all the time its good to hear some more intricate playing like in romantic dreams

Yeah what the fuck? Dubstep is trash and its even worse to compare a song that has nothing to do with dubstep to dubstep (assplay).
