I think in terms of diversity, experimentation, breaking new ground, and sheer quality white pony is their best album. and i'm sure those who were around, and into the 'tones at the time would agree. it really cemented them as something special. having said that, ATF is probably my favourite. But i couldn't have ATF without WP. For me ATF & WP will always be their best work.

That's funny, because I hated almost everything on White pony. Songs are good, but the sound isn't aggressive enough on this record. For me, its their worst effort. But I have to admit that if I put the record on, I listen to ist entirity.

ATF is my favourite.

i dont want any of their shit remixed.. i am a huge electronic music fan but i cant stand when they take deftones songs and re-do them.. just my opinion

Deftones cancelled their show in Chile tonight.  First signs of a band break up.  Good run fellas

Who would you guys like to remix the singles of Koi No Yokan?

CLAMS CASINO FTW!
I think he would do a good remix, but still keep the eerie tone that Deftones have.

I love M83 all day, but that remix he did of Rocket Skates was lame.

Sorry my friend, but I have to strongly disagree with you on the M83 remix of Rocket Skates, there is so much emotion in that remix and just the way he layered Chino's vocals is fucking breathtaking to me... Actually,I like it better than the original Deftones version of Rocket Skates.. lol
Maybe I need to give it another chance.. I dunno. I listened to it a few times and it just kind of bored me. Love M83 though.

Right on and if it doesn't click with you then, that's cool man, just listen to it with a good pair of headphones..To me, I think Anthony put a lot of time into it. M83 and Deftones are my two favorite bands, so to experience both of them in one song is pretty sweet.

I get what you're saying. I'd say ATF is the tighter record of the two (there is zero fat on that album), but WP's charm is in its comparative excesses. Every track does something interesting.

Yeah, I have to agree with you to be honest. Their songs don't go over too well when remixed.
Even that Bassnectar remix of Prince was just OK.

never really got the point of remixes. always seemed like a lazy effort to take credit for someone else's work to me.

Yeah, I mean.. not to go off topic, but seriously - every time I put on Hurry Up, We're Dreaming I listen to it all the way through. I could die and be happy, that album is a masterpiece in its own right.

Rocket Skates was one tough choice to remix anyway, he did well on the vocals but if you know the real track it just seems a bit outta context.
If I look on KNY Singles I'd say Clams Casino as quite fitting, maybe Voicians aswell. Not these exagarative added stuff like skrillex did with Korn.

Fuck yeah, such an inspirational album, that album was the soundtrack to my summer, and it will stay with me for probably the rest of my life.. That album got me thinking not too long ago... FUCKING DEFTONES need to do a double album! That's what they should do for the next one after Koi No Yokan

Remixes are equally useless and disgusting as when some metal bands insist on doing acoustic versions of songs.

Acoustic versions of songs have to be chosen very carefully.. you cant "force" a song to be quiet or to translate well unless youre going to do a different arrangement.. case in point with Be Quiet and Drive. What Jonah and Chino did on that was amazing.. but if they took Korea for instance, and just tried to play it the same way with acoustic guitars, holy shit it would be a train wreck.

Taking a deftones song and turning it into something electronic is pointless and I didnt even bother keeping the .mp3's when I got the album. I thought they were terrible.. and THANK GOD Chino doesnt give a shit about dubstep/brostep.. or we'd be having a Skrillex song featuring Chino.. Bassnectar is an alright dude tho.. big fan from what I hear.
