I listened to them.  Didn't ruin it for me at all.  Really excited for the record.  poltergeist sounded BOMB.

If i die, sing ''Entombed'' on my tomb.
I wish some quality movies use it as soundtrack.

Graphic Nature is sooo Digital Bath :) Thank god

really looking forward to poltergeist. it's melodic at times, but it sounds chino-melodic - nothing like it's made for radio or air play. in some other choruses so far it feels like nick had a lot of input or ideas for chino. like a producer working as a hit making machine. the question is, does he understand what make deftones great in the first place

Yeah, from what I could tell, "Entombed" and "Graphic Nature" sound like instant highlights of the album. I think, unlike maybe other albums, the highlights of this record are going to be the slower, moodier songs. "Rosemary" and "Tempest" are great examples of this already.

I'm surprised. I thought the one that'd blow me the way the most would be Entombed, but it sounds the least exciting to me. Obviously just a 30 second clip, but I expected more...I dont know, I guess purely because of how Stephen was playing the guitar, I probably expected an Animals As Leaders vibe, which is really my own fault lol.

Still...Gauze, Goon Squad, Graphic Nature and What Happened To You? sounds the most appealing, but eh, I'll enjoy listening to the whole album. To be honest, it hasnt ruined it for me at all hearing previews, just gets me even more excited.

The point is we already have a 'Hexagram', 'WGTB' and Elite..why would you want anything similar? I want something new I haven't heard yet. This sounds different to me.

oh, one of those "new" - junkies. just because it's new doesn't mean it's something everyone will enjoy. combat is old sounding, yet everyone liked that song - and that's despite it wasn't "new" at the time. royal was voted 2nd best song on diamond eyes at this board. what does that say?

I've been listening for over 10 years, I just learned that you can't just keep your head stuck in the past, you get so clouded by your own bias and nostalgia you will never be anything other than disappointed. It seems like some people are only interested in the heavy stuff. I hate when people say things like I hope there's another Elite or another Hexagram. What does that even mean?

they hope that there is a meaningful balls to the walls, larger than life, i-will-rape-your-face-with-my-screams-ish song on the album

that's what it means bro

same here

Listened to about 10 seconds of each one. Album overall sounds a bit grittier than I was expecting, and that's good for me.

Little did you know that Tosin Abasi has a guest solo on that song LOL
The sky is falling down
The night is calling you
A star is burning out
The sky belongs to you

What Happened to You? <3

Theres plenty of that in Deftones catalog. As if there's not enough of it? Bands should evolve and try to move you in other ways.

True.
And suprisingly Poltergeist is the fast iconic song of the album. We know Chino is not good at live performances on that kinda songs. But everyone said no Poltergeist is terrible, Rosemary is killer.. Now its the truth time. Rosemary is nothing different than live version but Poletgeist sounds promising

The sound is new but i hear;
1 song ATF  (Swerve)
3 songs original/KNY  (Leathers, What happened,Entombed)
7 songs ST   (the rest)

What do you think?

I was too excited maaaan!

TheShade1989

Oh God, I'm overplaying them all. Ha, I've resisted playing the songs we've heard much, and only now that I have 30-second previews of all songs does my self-control fail. Ah well, it's different; wen you overplay a whole song, you'll skip it. If you overplay 30 random seconds, the rest of the song will be fresh enough to put it into context. Plus, I wont remember a damn thing tomorrow.

And Swerve City sounds MUCH happier, light and optimistic than I thought it would. As soon as Chino's vocals kick in. Jeez, I'm hyped up. Once again, new Deftones music is stopping me frm getting sleep. And that's only frm the previews.

Nah, ST is far too dark and raw in my opinion. To be honest, to me personally, it feels like a similar sound to WP, but the optimism and lyric style of DE. By which I mean, WP was full of fantasy and whatnot, whereas this album to me feels more abstract and just, to use Chino's description, painting pictures with words. But still new, as with all of their albums.
