Deftones arent a band that keep making the same music constantly. Yeah, they do have certain elements that stay there that make them who they are, but the rest of it is all open to change of direction, it seems. Look at the contrast between Adrenaline to SNW. ST to DE. You cant say that hardly any of the DE songs are typical Deftones songs just because of their earlier music. People evolve and grow, and so does their music, so what do you expect? Sextape doesnt sound like stuff frm ATF, but so what? It's made by Deftones, so it's still a Deftones song. Entombed has Stephen playing differently than he has on any of the other songs/albums, but it's still a Deftones song. I get what you're saying, but they're not a band that makes songs with the exact same formula everytime. They switch things up.

I love it too. In fact, when I saw it wasn't the opening track anymore it kinda disappointed me. Think I already imagined that rythm at the very beginning.

In fact, they have a sound.
The way Chino sings and make chorous and his melancholic mood on voice is clearly known.
Everything Stef did is 1 sound. It is Alternative Metal.
Deftones has his own style, and we know how is it sounds.
When we heard Rosemary and Tempest so many people said ''It is a Deftones song''
But DE,cmnd,976,TPD,beauty,YSTB,Risk songs are absolutely something not about KNOWN DEFTONIC sound.

Its not because they are growing and doing better things they can do.
They just tried new songs and they sucked.
It is that simple. No need to write stories like you did about it.

If your statement were true everyone would say ''Hey this Tempest song is a very different song from Deftones. They never tried this kind of song.''

Oh shit your from longview?! I go there all the time haha just a 40 minute drive! And hell yea im going to deftones!! Cant miss it at all especially the day after release of KNY! And ey that would be cool to go together! But me and my friends are all going in my moms car lol most likely gonna get there till 6 tho :/ .. doesnt mean we cant meet up and try to talk to the band by there bus! Haha
