Def no songs like pink cellphone or lucky you which i happen to love btw. There are some softer songs tho. Rosemary is goddamn incredible, as is Romantic Dreams, Swerve City, What Happened to You?, Tempest and Graphic Nature. In hindsight i wish i would have taken more of the album in, but given the circumstances (about 5 people laughing, talking) it was kinda hard. Upon first listen KNY was incredible.

One silly question I have for you: Is there still plenty of screaming on the record or has that been restrained more?

Pretty good question actually. I hope Romantic Dreams is similar to WGTB vocally .. or at least one song off the album..

The fact that someone who seems way more critical than I (I'm not at all, I love almost everything they do) has great things to say about the album for the most part is awesome. Great that it seems that they actually have gone all-out in being more experimental and switching things up and etc.

To be honest, I'm way more excited about this album than DE (maybe because the music itself is better, or maybe because more time has past of me being a fan), but I'm not as impatient for a leak. Yeah, I wanna listen to it right now, but I'm not bothered much about hearing a leak. I'll listen to it wen I'm able to; if that's earlier than the release date then cool, but I'm not anticipating it daily. Which is weird for me.

Must be nice.  I'd cut someone's fucking head off for a leak right now.  >:(

I don't have a record player, unfortunately. Anyway, it would be cool to have it just for collecting's sake. I even bought a White Pony LP a while ago

Okay I had only ever seen the Troubadour version of Poltergeist and just watched the most recent video posted. Did Chino change some parts?

yes he did. the songs have changed from performance to performance, since vocal arrangement to instrumental parts. to fit what sounds the better.

Poltergeist is ridiculously amazing to me! That bass line is murderous and Abe just lights it up so well here. it's easily my favorite right now...can't wait to hear it live next wk and from the studio now. Love that shiiiit

I love it too. In fact, when I saw it wasn't the opening track anymore it kinda disappointed me. Think I already imagined that rythm at the very beginning.

Swerve City is too short to be a perfect Deftones song.

So was rickets but rickets was a kick ass song and didnt even seem like 2 minutes lol

Feiticeria is also so short but one of my favorite Deftones songs. Chino himself said it was his favorite off WP cos it was so compact and at the perfect length so that it leaves you wanting more.  Swerve City probably gets right into the intensity straight away without a build up, it won't feel as short as you think.

None of these songs are Deftones-tic songs.
Fei, Rickets or Street Carp they are all short and not really powerful songs.
Deftones characteristic songs are long and more like ''Digital Bath, Change, Be quite, Knife...''

Obviously it is a good song cause the team want it to be the single.
but 2 minutes?
i dont think it would be symbolic song

Nah I disagree, you have to be able to write the short quick hitters as well as the longer moodier ones. The diversity is what makes Deftones great, what is a Deftones characteristic song? You can't say that really, they are all so different and varying. Thats what Deftones is.

Poltergeist and Rosemary are and always were weak to me. They are subpar and mostly boring Deftones songs and I dont think the studio versions will be any better...

what is a Deftones characteristic song?

For ex: DE songs are not Deftones characteristic songs.  WP,ST,FUR albums have more Deftones characterist songs

You cant really say that for certain though .. there really isnt an album that can describe them since each one is different .. adrenaline is hardcore heavy hitter .. ATF is sorta mysteriously hardcore but with a hint of sexy in a way lol WP is a dark ambient experimental album .. S/T is a very dark and depressing album .. SNW is far more experimental and just really atmospheric .. i love it .. DE is really different .. its sorta an optimistic album that was well constructed .. not my favorite album tho .. and well koi no yokan ... cant really say anything .. but its just as amazing as every record they bring out.. there will always be critics ofcourse but what i love about deftones is that each album is different in its own way .. they dont keep the same sound .. theyre known for that!! So as far as saying which album represents deftones is impossible .. you may be familiar with those albums being a deftones sound album but only because those are deftones classics and you most likely started off listening to those songgs from them..

OnyxPanicProne

I hate coming on this forum sometimes, instead of just saying you dont like a song, you take a literal shit on it. Example- Diamond Eyes. I've seen so many times people saying its a pile of shit. Same thing with SNW, some people love it and some treat it like its the worst music every created. Its ok to express you opinon but dont be such a dick about it. Surprising enough people actually like these songs alot.

To say that one type of song is a band typical song is non-sense and is what these guys have always fought against -e.g. the "nu-metal" era.

You can say that most of their songs have common features - and in that case, off DE, I'd say that Royal, Cmnd/Ctrl, Prince and Rocket Skates carry those features.
