IMO :
Leathers was bad and boring.
Tempest is really interesting.
Leathers is too emo/pop to me but I like the dynamic on Tempest especially on the chorus and the end.

One more time, the good point is that they're not making the same album/things and this is why I love them.

This could easily end up being my favorite album by them, or at least tied with White Pony. Obviously too early to tell, especially since I get so hyped up over new music that I'll love it even if I end up finding it boring wen the excitement wears off. But that said, it's not just the music itself, just that all of the various things are ticking all of the right boxes (for me, personally).

Same here in regards to ticking the right boxes.

Idk. I'm not very impressed with the album cover. Not sure why, it just seems to be lacking something.

My best friend just told me that he likes the song but that the singing style is too much like Crosses.

Dig that a lot. Could be totally fake, though.

For some reason, i got a 'You've Seen The Butcher' vibe out of it.

It's weird and it probably doesn't make any sense, but mostly when he sings "thrust...ahead." compared to "I wanna watch the way You creep across my skull" in YSTB.

i've been warning everyone about the downside of chino singing in too many side projects, that it can be hurtful to deftones music. did they listen? no."the more side projects the better" they think. yet here we are. if crosses wouldn't have existed, that negative opinion of his wouldn't have existed. just saying.
personally though, i thought of crosses mostly in the intro of the song

Nope, i dont like the studio recording style of this album.
At White Pony you can hear ''drums, guitar and not echo-ed voice'' in a clear heavy and metalic way.
But this 2 studio songs of KNY sounds little bit SOFT.
And also Chino's voice is so thin and clear, i prefer White Pony's ''phone FX'' or deformed voice.

But still..it sounds way better than Snw and DE.

I agree. Better than DE and any other ones ive seen so far.

To shift gears...

After listening to both Leathers and Tempest (Poltergiest and Rosemary as well) I am excited for this record. However I am hopeful for a few more agressive tracks.

i got the same vibe... if we dont get any ts/crosses song... what were all getting its the feeling... but i could be wrong...

now, this I like. I enjoy Chino's newfound ability to sing clearly, and I like him and the band experimenting.

this actually reminds me of Jane's Addiction's latest offering. especially Chino's vocals in the verses.

This is true. Although I don't like the ATF cover that much. I mean it's legendary and I've heard it was some girl that they knew or something? But still. Look at it.

I always was a huge fan of Chino's work on Deftones but I have to admit today that it's maybe the thing I like less... and everybody's right, too much Crosses's style.
Something is missing on Chino's singing style. It is too clean, too smooth, too clear.

Ye chino's style has changed a bit. Almost like an octave higher than usual. More accessible style to your average user though
