except the 40 second intro to leathers is pointless and annoying.

The guitar part is annoying. Frank's stuff on the intro is cool, though.

Haha, I liked when he said Leathers was the best track they've done in a long time and only compared it to DE songs to support himself. At least he is into the 'tones.

His parents were virgins when I first saw Deftones live.....

After the initial "OH FUCK YES, NEW DEFTONES SONG, BEST SONG EVER" excitement has worn off, I listened to it again and read the new posts in here. I now kinda get the comparisons to DE and ppl saying the chorus sucks and whatever. But...hearing Rosemary, knowing that many songs have intros, are over five minutes long, the description of Romantic Dreams and the new thing they're doing for Entombed...I think even if ppl dont like this song, they shouldnt worry. People who dont like DE, I dont think you'll be disappointed this time around, for the simple fact that all the clues point to us getting a mixed album influenced by everything they've done, and influenced by anything they've wanted to do in the future. Besides, Deftones have never made the same album twice.

I dont know, maybe I'm just an optimist, but I think this has the potential to be their best album, for a lotta ppl at least. I say that just because they seem to be stepping every aspect of their music up a level, or at least wanting to. I think we're in for a great album at least.

heh, I didn't become a fan until a year or two after WP and I feel like I was too late to the party.

Leathers just got better with repeated listens. At first, I couldn't really wrap my head around it but I have no doubt now that it's one helluva great song. I'm anxious to hear what the rest of the album sounds like, because I'm picking up hints of ATF/WP in "Rosemary", S/T in "Leathers", SNW in "Roller Derby"... this is starting to shape up well, and I'm liking how this might turn out. Dare I say, may be their best work?

Apparently Swerve City was going to be the first single and the record company changed it to Tempest just a few days ago hrmm..

The chorus is a love-hate thing for me.  I like it but don`t like how commercial it is and just hope this album is not gonna be full of choruses like that.  It could quickly ruin so much great potential.  I hope the heavy stuff isn`t all going to have choruses like that.  Poltergeist`s chorus seems less commercial I`d say based on the live versions so hopefully that is a good sign.

Tempest?

Just being cheeky, from the email I got from deftones giving me the awesome leathers track (woohoooo)I decided to to edit the link putting every song title at the end. None of them worked but one... tempest automatically linked me weirdly to the Bob Dylan album Tempest on itunes.

Im not actually aware of the album but it does have a track called tempest on it, 'tones have stated they were going to do a number of covers for this new album. Could this be one of them??? :O

I just think its abit weird that thats the only one that worked, I have heard on a video that tempest will be released on October 9th. Maybe they will give this one away for free too, DECENT!!
