lets not forget adrenaline is PLATINUM too, and ATF is right on the verge. s/t sold about 580,000. i have no clue were snw is at, around 350,000 maybe. it could outsell snw, but probably none of the others, times aren't the same, albums in general don't sell like they used to

this thread had potential at one point, sadly when chi gets out there's going go be alot of rehabilatation and probably alot of confusion for our man, even if he decided to re-join the band it would probably be years before he'd be able to, he has to get himself together again.

There Will Be Blood

chi will always be the bassist of the deftones

deftoolsys07

i personally agree that chi won't be jumping around on stage any time soon... he is apparently making movement in his arms and legs now, but barely... and this is where he's at now after almost a year and half after the accident.. as someone above stated, as long as he can just enjoy the rest of his life peacefully that should be all that matters, why should we get pissed if he can't tour anymore? just be glad the guy made it through the accident and is recovering. we all know damn well that if any joe blow got in the same accident he couldn't afford the life support and months and months of staying in a hospital and treatment from doctors... if it were me they would have pulled the plug... so no i don't think he will rejoin deftones to tour or anything, considering i don't even think the band will be making albums 5 years from now... eros may be the last if they release it.. .maybe one more... nonetheless let's just be glad the bassist for deftones (chi) is still here on this earth...

I agree, I think Eros will be the last of The Deftones, Chi is going to be recovering for a long long time, even if he fully recovers i think it will be too late. Its not negative to be realistic, Chi is and will always be the Deftones bassist....but i don't see him ever playing with them again unless its a reunion years and years down the track!

i'd like to know exactly what happened, what caused the crash, who was driving, did the driver get hurt, what about the car that hit them and that person's condition afterwards, etc. we never got the story of what happened. just 'car wreck, Chi seriously injured' end of story. is it wrong for me to wanna know what happened. check me if i'm in the wrong

your not wrong.... Man he must have really hit his head hard on something. I kinda deep down inside know he will never be back in the band, but I pray he gets his mind back and has a normal life that he deserves.

Man I cannot believe all this negative shit most of you are posting. Oh they won't make another record, chi isn't gonna play anymore, blah blah. Weak minded fools.

People in Chi's situation can take years to get out of, and once your out it could take years of Rehabilitation & recovering. The longer your in this state of mind the worst your body can deteriorate. Chi is fighting and we will always be on his side and he will be in our prayers. But we al know he wont be back anytime soon. I pray he will be but its not going to happen.  So I appreciate  you being trying to act positive in a horrible situation like this but we need to accept it for now.

now thats being realistic yet positive.and well said. in life - bad things happen...just the way it is, and i dont believe shit will be better if you close your eyes, put your hands over your ears and go "nanananana, everything is fine lalalala" - to me that's a weak mind. everyone has the right to an opinon and you can still be positive and pray for chi but dont fool yrself about anything, u only doing yrself a disservice in the end. him ever playing again is far and away, just pray he will get some kind of normal and have a decent life. its been what, 1,5 years since the accident? and he's been able to grab a pole in the bed (uh that didnt come out right) cant see him ever _wanting_ to tour again, he prob just wants a peaceful life with loved ones

I'm not acting like "OMg no i cant hear this "lalalalalala". But who's to say he can't make a good or quick recovery. Life works in mysterious ways.

I think at first after chi wakes up he will want to tour and get back to writing records just to return to some sort of normlacy thats what he has been doing for the majority of his life. But i dont know him so my opinion is just based on theory. but thats what i think and it will take a long time for him to recover like years but i look forward to seeing him on stage again.

I like how whoever made this thread could even picture deftones outselling white pony ever again. hahahahahahahaha. are u joking? you can rant all you want but White Pony went platinum because it was released when Nu-metal was still popular.

I dont like to think of deftones as numetal but i mean.. there not iron maiden style metal and they are heavy.. so yeaaa. Indie pop is trendy now .. as well as a ton of shitty studio produced garbage that people like to call RnB. (true RnB is ashamed). Deftones will never be as close to the spotlight as they were in 2000-2001.

This is the year of Nu-Metal's return. I'd say around late this year/early next year.

I dont think they'd replace Chi.

this

if Chi gets better (hopefullY) and still able to play, why they wouldnt take him back!?

Cherry Waves

I'm loving the Positive things people are saying...thats a good way to be, but its not Negative to be realistic is all we are saying.
Its not like we don't want him back in the band and all that, Chi is the Deftones, but come on....i got hit by a car and was in an out of rehab for 12 months with just a brokin leg, as soon as the Deftones realise that Chi may not join them again is the time they pull the plug, if he does fully recover soon then i am ecstatic!

i think they already considered this option when they decided to keep playing and when they asked sergio to step in for Chi.

Jacob

I'm pretty sure the "deal" with Sergio is that he stays with them until Chi comes back. if Chi doesn't come back, he'll probably be a permanent member. if the band wanted to quit because of losing Chi as a member, they'd already have done it.
