So sources say that Heath Ledger will be the new Joker.
I find this very interesting. I think he is a very good actor but the way he speaks in all of his movies just doesn't seem to fit with The Joker.
What is everyone else's thought on this?
I'm not a fan of his but if it's true then i'll wait to see how he does in it before saying anything negative.
I can't picture him as the Joker...sorry, doesn't work for me.
they could have done 1000000 times better than heath ledger
Well I trust Christopher Nolan's decision. Obviously Ledger showed him something that he liked. I think he'll fit the part but it will just take time to see it.
Jack Nicholson should play him.. OMG, that wud be teh craaaaaazay!
Can't comment too much though until you've seen Ledger actually play him. It shouldn't even be the Joker though. The Joker was born and died in Batman. Nolan having the joker in another film is just so fucking cheeky and if I were Tim Burton I'd be seriously offended.
No doubt it'll turn out great as another version of the character.. But I'm just saying it shouldn't even be happening.
nicholson was the best joker

I don't get your point. This is a whole new series in a different time zone, different everything. I can't understand why people keep referring to the older movies because this one is on it's own. It can do whatever it wants without using Burtons' as reference.
And Ben mentioned on another board that he would like to see Crispin Glover [http://imdb.com/name/nm0000417/] as The Joker. I think that would be a perfect role for him.
no matter who they pick it will be a let down when compared to Jack
Why? Jack Nicholson played Jack playing the Joker.
I liked it, but it just wasn't the Joker.
Crispin Glover would be pretty cool. But if Ledger can pull it off, then he truly is a force to be reckoned with.

thank god someone else finally said it
i personally wanted lachy hulme to get the role but i trust nolan's decision
i think adrian brody would be a great joker
Crispin Glover? Man, that's the greatest idea ever.
BATMAN BEGINS BLOWS
Heath Ledger sucks as an actor, so boo

I REALLY WANT TO BLOW YOU FAIL ME
Woah dude, where'd that come from?
Want my address?
Everyone always names Crispin, I mean he's a crazy looking guy and has done roles that fit that, but to be quite honest I would abhor that choice for the Joker. The man can't really act other than that persona, and from what I've read and heard, this joker will be a little more complex character wise.
But its pretty much a done deal with Heath, announced at comic con and all that junk, I shall reserve judgement though until I actually see him in the role.
Another name thatwas thrown around that would have been cool is Paul Bettany

i agree, he played burton's joker.
nicholson played a funny psychotic lunatic.
and also, burton butchered the penguin, the penguin was never half penguin
he didnt live in the sewer, he didnt bleed green ooze, and he didnt have an army of penguins with lazers attached to they heads neither...
But you have to admit that the penguin army was pretty cool
WTF?

I thought Jean was a shoe in for this.
Seriously though I think Hugo Weaving would nail that role if he could lose the Mr Smith voice.

PLUS DON'T DOUBT AN AUSSIE. THEY WILL SURPRISE YOU ALWAYS.

too me the great thing about the Burton movies was the bad guys (the Joker and the Penguin) were actually creepy and intriguing at the same time... I liked the new Batman Returns but I doubt the next one will be that good, I have a feeling they are gonna fuck it up just like they do with most sequels in Hollywood...

I haven't even seen the movie, but I will gladly admit that I was 100% WRONG here.
why? All we have seen is pictures and a couple short clips. He could totally suck ass and we dont even know it. So he does a good job slouching over and making evil looks towards the camera. That doesn't mean this is going to be the best roll ever. Granted he could be amazing too. I just dont see why the verdict is already out on how awesome he is. Everyone is just kissing his ass because he is dead.
there have been about 28 professional reviews of the movie so far and all of them have praised heath's performance. they're talking oscars here.
so yes, i'm definitely expecting a performance nothing short of amazing.

big fucking whop! I never share the same views as the critics. And I think it's funny that 28 PROFESSIONAL reviews set the standard for a movie and everyone has to buy it. LOL...what do you have to do to be a critic? Kiss Jewish ass?
38 reviews and still counting. not a single bad word yet.

I'm sure he's great, because he was a great actor, but seriously... do you think any professional movie critic would have the guts to talk down on him after what happened?

If I remember correctly, people were talking about how awesome his performance was before he died. I was very skeptical about him too for a while. I was never a fan of Ledger, but everything I've seen from the previews has definitely made me a believer.

Not really. It got a 77% on rottentomatoes and a 65 on metacritic.
Right now, Dark Knight has a 100% on rottentomatoes. I know it hasn't come out yet, but compare the reviews that the two movies are getting. You don't find words like "masterpiece" in the reviews for Indiana Jones.
The new Jones movie sucked bad and it completely raped the franchise. I knew that's how it was going to turn out before I saw it. I was skeptical at first of Ledger, but everything I have seen and heard has really gotten me excited for this film.
This movie is gonna kick the fucking living shit out of your ass. I guarantee it. If it doesn't, I will gladly send you $100.00 in the mail, along with a set of limited edition collector's DEFTONES "AA" BATTERIES.
and seriously, who honestly thought that new indiana jones movie was going to be at all above average
It was good. But the stupid masses are easily amused. I for one liked it. I watched it all the way through, entranced by the story.
Im hoping that this movie is amazing. I really love batman and would be so disappointed if it sucked or was even average.
All I am saying is that I dont understand how you can all already be giving heath ledger a standing ovation before you have even seen the work? You are all saying he is better than Jack ( a legend ) and you haven't even seen the role to be able to compare yet. It is just strange.

People only suck Heath Ledgers dick because he's dead. Yeah, he was talented.. but not like wow.

Yes, people are deifying him in death. No doubt about that. However, I've been very impressed with what I've seen so far (just like everybody else).
