Songwriting? Sound?
I'm the type that doesn't really pay attention to lyrics. Only sound. To me, Deftones are the PERFECT band
That's not to say their lyrics suck, by the way.
what a weird thing to say
Deftones are the PERFECT band, but their lyrics suck.... lol
Nobody on this board likes Deftones. They just come here to argue :)

I didn't say their lyrics sucked. In fact I said the exact opposite.

oh sorry man i get you now haha
sometimes i listen to certain types of sounds and they make my dick really fucking hard
simple yet complicated and mindblowing.
Because of the shoegaze metal fusion. And a wide variety of other musical influences.
Because they are deft ones who create def tones. They definitely do.
They created ATF and White Pony.

and Koi No Yokan and selftitled
Because they write good music and sound great.
because chino
Because Chino raps like a black dude, and his lyrics are about skating, smoking weed, having sex and some smart thinking and stuff. Like, he's both cool and smart, sometimes he's sad and sometimes he's happy. It's like he captures my exact thoughts and feels and puts them into words. Oh, and he has awesome hair.
That, and Stef's awesome heavy riffs.
Because of their sense of style.
lyrics. melodies. guitar tone. time and place. position. friendship. longevity. quality.
I think they're neat.
I love their song Amniisty !!!! Best song ever
Because they can write a good soft song that also punches you in the face. They do good cover songs too.
Perfect fusion between heavy and melodic. Get the balance just right! And they're cool ass mofo's
Been listening to the Tones since 2001. Could never understand why no one around me saw the magic in this band that I saw. Everyone was so hung up on mainstream bullshit. I finally came to the realization that I was just smarted than everyone else.
Perfect mixture of beauty and intensity, with some amazing guitar tones as an added bonus (especially on ATF/WP)

Being able to spell correctly is usually a prerequisite for calling yourself smart.
Aren't they that band with that album called blue horse or something?

lol
cant wait for season 8
I just like their sound, even if it's not exactly constant. Also Chino is fuckin gr8.
personally i like them for their sound and their stunning ability to evolve over the years(something i dont see as much of in other bands i like). They have a share of alternative metal songs(a genre i like), and more experimentally stuff(something i grew to like as i continued to listen to them).
because of their music, lyrics, chino's voice and sex-vibe..

The song that you believe to be' Amnesty' is actually not a Deftones song. It is actually a song called 'Breathe (Tiny Hands)' by a band called Relative Ash. I was under the same impression when I first stumbled upon this tune years ago, but have since discovered it was not the Deftones. Relative Ash, a Chicago-based group, only put out one album--and it's pretty clear who their primary influence was. It's a pretty good album too...this guy (the singer, whoever he is) does a great job of recreating what Chino does with Deftones music.
