Some dude in Australia picked it up. The Hot Topic color might be clear. The Aussie reports that it sounds great even though its 51 minutes on a single LP. Gatefold cover as well.

Ever since seeing the picture above I have searched for anything about it and nothing comes up. Is this not out yet and some one got it early? I even called Hot Topic and the guy told me nothing comes up in their computers about it. He said the only thing that comes up in their computer is the CD.

I really want to get this and any other release of Koi No Yokan on vinyl.

Title: Re: KNY Vinyl
Post by: Hesperian Death-Horse! on Jan 22, 2013, 01:50 AM
Ok, people. Its amazing how poorly some of you internet. If you had looked at my link for anything more than the pictures you would have seen a discussion about the status of the HT exclusive.

First of all, its been talked about since around at least November (probably sooner) that HT will have an exclusive.
Second, the HT color has been availble since about last Friday. There are some stores in CA that have gotten it in already.
Thirdly, the reason that you can't find this on hottopic.com is because all vinyl has been pulled from the site during Hot Cash. That's a whole other mindfuck discussion, though.
Lastly, not all HT stores will get the vinyl. Not even all the ones that regularly carry vinyl (some don't) will get this in. So once Hot Cash is over (1/27) this will probably show up on hottopic.com.

Any questions?

No idea, that's why I'm asking. The code on the sticker reads 9362-49477-1 and I can't find much on Google yet.

Wasn't sure where the International one relates to (assuming outside USA).

Recently found out it's the Int Edition, if Discogs is correct.

Will figure this out tomorrow when my European version comes in. It's pretty simple I guess....

Koi No Yokan LP - 180 grs - USA - Black - 1.000 copies, limited deftones.com edition - folie numbered
Koi No Yokan LP - 140 grs - USA - Clear - 1.500 copies, Hot Topic version
Koi No Yokan LP - 140 grs - USA - Black - 3.000 copies, regular version
Koi No Yokan LP - 180 grs - EUR - Black - ? copies, regular version [guess 3.000 or so]

Edit: when ordered in Europe or UK, you will most likely get the regular EU version.

Okay, got mine in and it has some (cool) pressing mistakes. I like mistakes.
It has 2 registration marks in the band photo. These are normally used outside of the artwork to register the 4 colors while printing. Who has this too? Does the USA version have this too?

Just picked up my copy(EU) and I got the same mistakes on the sleeve.
I'm also not to happy with the image quality of the sleeve, the band pic is stretched out compared to the cd(I do understand there is difference in dimensions) and the picture on the front looks low res in my opinion.

I bet they all look the same (all versions). Most of the time the basic artwork is send from the head label office to various Warner offices where they change some things (like cat. no. and some legal info) and then get pressed overseas for overseas releases.

In other news, there appear to be 2 EU versions....

This is what's out:

Koi No Yokan LP - 180 grs - USA - Black - 1.000 copies, limited deftones.com edition - folie numbered
Koi No Yokan LP - 140 grs - USA - Clear - 1.500 copies, Hot Topic version
Koi No Yokan LP - 140 grs - USA - Black - 3.000 copies, regular version
Koi No Yokan LP - 180 grs - EUR - Black - ? copies, regular version [with 1 pressing (mistake) registration mark on back]
Koi No Yokan LP - 140 grs - EUR - Black - ? copies, regular version [with 2 pressing (mistake) registration marks on back]

I have the EUR one with the 2 pressing mistakes on the back (one between Sergio's legs and the other partly in the black section above.

Go mine from my local record shop, They had 2 copies, one with the registration mark in between Sergio's legs, (sold out when I went back in yesterday, it was pay day.), I ended up with the 180g copy, which has the registration mark to the right of Sergio's head. Pic below.

Really disappointed with the design too, what a waste of a gatefold, plenty of promo band photos or artwork that could've been used instead of coloured water. Is Frank Maddocks retired? That guy had an eye for design, loved his grungy designs from Wp through to SNW

I agree with the design... They could get rid of that innersleeve and put that info in the gatefold. But the entire design itself I do not really like at all. CD and LP. I love the WP gatefold with the lyrics in them etc. Way better than an extra insert/innersleeve...

Agreed, that's my fav as well, the silver pantone on white, sturdy cardboard sleeve, double vinyl...  ;D going to get it out now and look at it... again.

It just seems a bit rushed with not much care.

The band themselves are not really too much into the artwork thing. Frank Maddocks has been doing this for a long time for them which seems easy for them to work with him. I guess they are like 'okay' with what he comes up with. I mean, after the simple artwork for DE I expected something different this time. Again, pretty simple layout. It does not speak for me at all all those light reflections etc. It fists Deftones though but I was curious if they would come with something new/nice...

Lmao this is funny .. cause to me the most simplist album cover has to be white pony .. its just a white horse... wow.. but koi no yokan is an infinity room .. it looks like a dream .. some sort of vortex.. its an infinity room .. very symbolic.. i love every single album cover .. but the simplist cover goes to white pony .. in my opinion ofcourse

I always liked the limited edition White Pony cover... still simple but really clean.

Okay, got mine in and it has some (cool) pressing mistakes. I like mistakes.
It has 2 registration marks in the band photo. These are normally used outside of the artwork to register the 4 colors while printing. Who has this too? Does the USA version have this too?

Yeah, I have the same too. Noticed the horrible picture as well... looks cheap!

I wish they had a different image/design on the back cover because I like the rest of it as an LP.

I always thought the back cover looked like some cheap bootleg or something. I wish they would have used a different picture maybe a live photo.

Interesting. That photo is the only thing I enjoy about the design. I've gotta admit, I'm not feeling my natural completist impulse to be all over this release. Pretty bummed.

I still don't have a single copy of this on vinyl. My local record shop is supposed to be getting it soon. This is incredibly disappointing since I make a point to have all variants of every Deftones album on vinyl but... not so lucky this time.

I've talked to the guys at my local record shop and they ARE getting it and putting one aside for me. Just waiting for their shipment to show up. I'm mostly disappointed about not getting the clear vinyl since I have every other coloured vinyl and I'm not really in a financial situation to shell out $100+ for a copy from eBay.

Ordering the clear vinyl and headed to the record store after work today to pick up the standard edition. Everything is working out.

I got three editions: Deftones.com is number 971, standard US edition without pressing issues and Clear vinyl stuck at the mail for at least one week :(

Clear vinyl ordered and the standard edition is in my possession. I'm officially happy once more. I can live without the 180 gram edition.

A local store ordered 2 for me, but I was able to get them somewhere else. If anyone is interested I could pick them up a copy and you just pay me back. The store is selling them for 25.99, so that plus shipping.

Strange that the Hot Topic variant is selling for so much on eBay when there are literally hundreds still available for $22.99 at Hot Topic!  Sucker born every minute I suppose!

It's bugging me why there are two editions of the International version... According to the official list, there is only supposed to be the 180g only.

As mentioned above, I have the one with two pressing mistakes on and it feels like a 140g so I'm wondering if this whole batch is a mistake?

I have the standard us version and its blatantly clear they took a low quality jpeg image and blew it up for this release. That the issue everyone's mentioning?
