Title: Meaning of the phrase "Around the Fur"?
Post by: LionsTigersAndTrouts on Nov 24, 2012, 06:03 AM
What exactly does "Around the Fur" mean? What is its context, as far as the album name and the lyric "Coming back around the fur"? Anybody have any ideas?

Watch the b-sides and rarities DVD Chino says it is a a metaphor for the extremes of clean and dirty ,high and lows because fur is beautiful on the outside but inside it's dead skin and is terrible looking

I know two interviews where Chino explains it:

Deftones - TV special 1997 [Part 1 of 2] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xns3hbisRqI#)
Deftones - Interview + Live Footage (Astoria Theatre - London, UK 10-09-1997) HQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvA25dipFs0#)

The last one is the one that DeftonesNZ mentioned.

I was also curious to the meaning. I originally thought it was a sex euphemism.

I'm sure he says that after every album they do, naturally, but ATF is probably still his ol' personal favourite.

Haha he actually said that it sounds like a cliché but he reckons he's being honest, also remember seeing an interview a  long time ago from SNW / ST era where he said White Pony was he favourite because they really found their sound and separated themselves from nu-metal bands
