I was wondering : what part of each member is your favorite work ?
I'm really interested about it.
For example :
Abe : Digital Bath
Stef : Rapture
Chino : XXX
Frank : XXX
Chi : XXX
Sergio : XXX
??
interesting
Abe: RX Queen - The way the beats follow it's unordinary style is just terrific
Stef: Beware - The Outro is amazing and that coming after keyboarding just before is cool
Chino: WGTB - The Screams and Lyrics are insane
Chi: Engine No. 9 - His Bassline is perfectly fitting along with the Screams hitting Chino's stops has always been a classic over Def's whole career.
Frank: Prince - There are several Songs his work makes Songs from very good to excellent so they tend to change for me but Prince is a great example of how his effect work heaps them up.
Sergio: Diamond Eyes - Could be changing on the New Stuff, but Bassline and Backing Vocals are quite good, considering he had to fill in in an area his style had to adjust.
Overall Opinion changes a lot due to the diversity of songs and moody approach to it, so it's not an ultimate decision for most.
Abe : Digital Bath
Stef : Needles and Pins
Chino : Beware
Frank : Deathblow
Chi : Kimdracula
Sergio : Royal

True. Huge work there.
This is SO hard to choose...
For now it goes like this :
Abe : Digital Bath / Around The Fur
Stef : Hexagram / Rickets
Chino : Feiticeira / WGTB / RX Queen
Frank : Digital Bath
Chi : My Own Summer / Bloody Cape
Sergio : Prince
Abe: Rickets
Stef: Birthmark
Chino: Moana
Chi: Minerva
Frank: Passenger
Sergio: You've Seen the Butcher
This will probably change in a month, but that's it currently.

Good call.
Chino - Hex
Frank- WGTB
Chi - One Weak
Abe - Combat
Sergio - Rosemary!

Abe: Rickets
I really like his work on Rickets. I hesitated.
Chino- Teenager (b-sides) Riviere and Ghosts
Steph- Engine 9 and Good Morning
Chi- One Weak or Cherry
Abe- Rickets and Nosebleed
Frank- Hole in the Earth or Passenger
Vega- Rollerdoobie
* Went w 2 a piece because obviously and naturally this is really hard to call and even run thru the mind. These are my first insticts right now... Great idea btw... 8)
Chino: Hexagram/Combat
Stef: Rocket Skates/E-9
Chi: One Weak/Root
Sergio: Roller Derby
Abe: Hole In The Earth/Combat
Frank: Korea/Butcher
Abe: Change. His fills are badass, and that one tiny little high hat right before the final huge chorus (right after chino says "blow me away") carries so much damn tension.
Chi: Cherry Waves. Beautiful line that weaves in and out of the song. Really makes you feel like you're floating.
Chino: Knife Prty. Love the vocalisations. His voice has a very dark, desperate quality, especially in the first voice/bridge. Hexagram is a close second for his ability to convey pain in those wails.
Frank: Tie between MX and Pink Maggit. I love the gurgling effect on Chino's vocals, as if he's drowning. Pink Maggit has those chill-inducing sylvan sound effects.
Sergio. It'll have to be Prince, since that's the only track where he has a really prominent part, but I love his work on Rosemary too.
Stef: Battle-Axe. For one reason and one reason only; the chord shift at :37 is so fucking mean.
Abe- Digital bath-Mein
Steph-Korea-Root
Chino-WGTB-Rivire
Chi-Minerva-Hole in the Earth
Frank-WGTB-Change
Sergio-Rosemary so far
Abe - Honestly can't choose. Abe's work is probably what I love most about Deftones.
Stephen - Hexagram
Frank - u,u,d,d,l,r,l,r,a,b,select, start OR beware. SNW is really where Frank shines.
Chi - Riviere, when that sloppy distorted bass hits it just has a massive effect on me.
Chino - Anything from ATF. He was just on top of his game here.
Sergio - Prince

True. Frank really shines on SNW but I'm wondering if his best work rather is on WP.

100%. Hexagram and Knife Prty are certainly among his best works.
Abe: Feiticeira - it just flows. Has no returning pattern and is beautifully put together
Frank: Digital Bath - gives the Song the depth it needed
Chi: Teething - Chi is what gives that song it's headbanging pulse
Stef: Nosebleed - The best riffage deftones has ever fucking produced
Chino: I can't decide. It could be either Rivière or Knife Prty
Sergio: Beauty School - love, love, love the bridge into the chorus. LOVE IT.
Abe: DBath or Battle-Axe
Frank: Change and Deathblow
Chi: Cherry Waves and Riviere
Steph: Hexagram and Korea
Chino: DBath and Knife Prty
Sergio: Prince
Abe: Change / My Own Summer / Rats! (the gravity blast is sick)
Stef: Hexagram / WGTB / Rats!
Chino: Change / Battle-Axe
Frank: Risk / WGTB / Deathblow
Chi: My Own Summer / Combat / Kimdracula
Sergio: Prince / Royal / Rosemary
Abe: Digital Bath/Nosebleed
Stef: Elite/Hexagram
Chino: Lotion/Digital Bath
Frank: Beware/Royal
Chi: Minerva
Sergio: Prince and Rosemary's bassline sounds sick!
Abe: "Digital Bath"/"MX"
Stef: "Fireal"/"When Girls Telephone Boys"/"Finger of Death"
Chino: "Riviere"/"When Girls Telephone Boys"/"Lhabia"
Frank: "Riviere"/"When Girls Telephone Boys"/"Minerva"/"Cherry Waves"/"Deathblow"
Chi: "Lhabia"/"RX Queen"
Sergio: "Prince"
This is kind of hard to decide because a lot of my favorite Deftones song have the sound where you can really tell it was a a little piece of each member that just went together very well together (i.e. I totally love the riffs, bassline, drums, effects, and vocals in both "Cherry Waves" or "When Girls Telephone Boys")
i guess i have to listen more to those instrumentals to decide whats my favorite work of each.but....

I think Frank worked best with what he had on White Pony... his setup then and now is drastically different.
Abe: Around the Fur... probably my main favorite. He's a damn monster on that shit. The accents and how he uses the different tones of his cymbals is incredible. Rapture and RX Queen are pretty b.a. too.
Frank: Fireal... fucking chilling and the whale sounds and shit. Damn. Rapture, Passanger, Digital Bath, and WGTB to boot too.
Stef: Hexagram for the bROOTZzz. Hole in the Earth, Combat, and Mascara are beasts.
Chi: 7 Words! That bassline dude, is king! It makes the song. Rapture and Dai the Flu rock as well.
Sergio: Royal?
Chino: Always thought Minerva was boss, but he killed it on their cover of If Only Tonight We Could Sleep. To nail Smith like that is amazing! Damone and Lifter are also favorites. As cliche as it sounds, Change is still a stellar performance.
Abe: Cherry Waves, those drums get me every time!
Chi: Rx Queen, Bass sounds very sinister love it
Chino: Riviere, Guitar: Beware live, Team Sleep: Ever, Crosses: Trophys
Frank: Risk, it blew me away the first time I heard this song and its because of his effects. Got me really interested in the band.
Sergio: Roller Derby
Stef: Lovers, Fucking amazing

what the hell
no offense of course, but what the hell
I dunno I just love it for some reason. I guess I just think about Chi every time I hear it.
Abe: Digital Bath
Chi: Root
Steph: Rocket Skates
Frank: When Girls Telephone Boys
Chino: Digital Bath
Abe: Digital Bath
Chi: Dai The Flu
Steph: Feiticeira
Frank: Change
Chino: MX
Abe : Digital Bath/Needles And Pins/Around The Fur
Chi : Change (surprised nobody mentioned it)/Kimdracula/Bloody Cape
Steph : Feiticeira/My Own Summer/Korea (the bridge alone makes the song)
Frank : Change/WGTB/Risk (there his samples do add a lot of flavor to the song)
Chino : Digital Bath/Feiticeira/WGTB
Sergio : Prince/Cmnd-Ctrl
This is so goddamn hard.
can tell, lol
It's gonna be hard...
Franck : WGTB... had to hear it live to figure out
Abe : Digital bath (friends who don't know about them tell me that the drum line sounds fucking cool instantly as they hear it)
Chi : dai th flu, change... Orgasmic
Sergio : don't know about the studio version yet, but he makes the job on rosemary
Stephen : mos, feiteceira... (I defy anyone not to move even a toe on those two)
Chino : Beware (live bbc), bqad of course, lifter (that energy), rosemary right now
It,s weird that many of my favorite songs are not even listed above
Abe : Around The Fur
Stef : Elite
Chino : Bloody Cape
Frank : Change
Chi : One Weak
Sergio : Prince
:)
Three for each (because, yes, this really was hard).
***
Chino: Digital Bath, Bloody Cape, MX
Chi: One Weak, Dai The Flu, Needles & Pins
Stef: Hexagram, Royal, Headup
Abe: Around The Fur, Digital Bath, Mein
