Title: Metal Evolution : Deftones
Post by: 976-EVIL on Jan 12, 2012, 12:40 AM
Just a heads up that VH1 Classic will be airing the Metal Evolution series this weekend that will cover the so called "Nu Metal" movement.

Curious to see how much respect is shown to Deftones.

Not to geek out over it, but I've been laid up the past week and saw the Grunge edition of the series. Pretty interesting shit. It was awesome hearing Kim Thayil, Jack Endino, and Mark Arm's take on it all, Grunge, the "corporate machine", and Nickleback.

They post the band names on a virtual board and talk about all of them on the "list" - Deftones is on there. So they will be at least mentioned if not talked about in some sort of depth. I gather they'll talk about White Pony, Warped Tour, or Ozzfest, respectively. Probably the only television event I'm looking forward to watching! :P

It is an interesting series, actually was wondering what most of the guys here thought about it.

As for the "board" you mentioned for each genre of Metal yes they showed at the top Korn and Deftones, during the promo they showed a quick flash of the Bored Video. I will look for it to post. Of course if anyone else can do it first that would be great.

Saw part 2 on YouTube with Deftones. Pretty uninteresting after that.. Glad they played some Stuck Mojo tho!

Too bad they didn't really give Deftones enough credit =/

Just watched it. They give Deftones enough credit as helping pioneer the overall sound. They really concentrated mainly on Limp Bizkit though; who I really think is the definition of Nu Metal.

Deftones are featured:
Much More Music clip 2 of 5 (Nu Metal) Metal Evolution L1030805.MOV (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1e7jjPD56g&feature=related#ws)

Quality sucks though, so download the real episode.
