Are there any bands that you've discovered because of Deftones? - maybe they mentioned or recommended them in an interview or maybe it's a band that influenced Deftones and through reading or hearing of their influences you decided to give it a listen?
Only 1 I can think of - Stef mentioned them a few times in interviews and I would probably never have heard of them if it wasn't for Deftones - Meshuggah!
Really great band - thanks Stef!
From their covers, i became a big fan of Suicidal Tendencies, Depeche Mode and Bad Brains.
Cure weezer and most of the covered bands i loved before.the most surprising thing for me was the cardigans cover do you believe.i loooove that band!
But when it comes to find out about bands through deftones then i would say idiot pilot.wolves is one of my alltimeinlovewith records.
Thank you deftones
The Smiths and Suicidal Tendencies
Meshuggah, Steph talked about them in an old interview.
The cure, the smiths and everything Maynard James Keenan. I guess you could also say muse because I heard they do bits of deftones songs live and it made me check them out more.
The Smiths, Fugazi and Meshuggah. I love how each band are very different
Deftones got me into Team Sleep got me into Pinback.
I re-listened to weezer after reading an interview with Chino where he talked quite favorably about them and suddenly it just clicked. I had listened to the blue record a little bit when it came out originally, but I was hardcore into metal at that time, so I could not appreciate it back then.
bohren and der club of gore - they were listed in chino's current top 10 albums in an article a while back, good stuff
This WIll Destroy You when Deftones took them on tour
The Cure, fucking excellent decision to give them a listen. Them and Deftones are almost always played whenever I listen to my ipod.
Definetively the cure...fan for life. but I think they had a huge impact on making me enjoy depeche mode's music. Then, when I fell in love with the depeche I came back to deftones and started loving songs like Lucky you and that stuff. Also weezer, and thrice (with their cover).
in an indirect extent, they brought wightfourseven on tour with them , and that's how I got to know their music
Machinedrum
Little Dragon
SBTRKT

Taproot
You head Taproot because of Deftones? I can't imagine Chino saying in an interview how Taproot had changed his life
Oh because Taproot supported Deftones here in UK on the Back to School tour. Please forgive mr
Will Haven, Far, Glassjaw,
Crosses
Far is on my list, too. And GlassJAw was recommended to me not from the deftones themselves, but from a dude on soulseek whose name was Glasstones1983.
Besides everything mentioned: Giant Drag, Eightfourseven, Telefon Tel Aviv, etc.
Far, Sade, M83, Cocteau Twins, Bohren, Faith No More, My Bloody Valentine, and Brian Eno

Far, M83, The Cure, The Smiths, Dredge and Prince. After hearing the band go on and on about Purple Rain, I gave him a try. and now I think he is one of the most talented people in music. But M83 is what I really got hooked on.
m83, glassjaw, poison the well.
Yeah forgot about far, funny story when we flew out to la for the chi benifit concert, far came out and everyone was asking who is this, well the people around us! I wouldve thought people from los angeles wouldve known who they were! It was a trip when i told this guy it was far, due to the fact im from texas!
