awesome. hopefully i can get my hands on that and the mastodon live at the aragon. it's exciting that it's a full lp, which means we can hope for a decent compilation and not just two songs.

Oh go on then.... :)
aw man i was hoping someone here would have some info on it already...
I will definitely be picking up that mastodon/zz top split....that is badass.
i wouldn't be too excited about this... maybe it's the same old covers but in an LP.

Ha!
Deftones announce they are releasing a 'Covers' (UK exclusive?) vinyl album and we're off with the moans.....

I'm definitely buying this.
I reckon we can hope for a few new recordings.
I fucking love all their covers - have been introduced to some sick bands through them - including jawbox and Coctau Twins

I bet side A will be a new cover and side B will be an old one they never used for b-sides and rarities. or maybe a bigger tracklist? shrugs. cant wait.

I have a feeling that with the success that Diamond Eyes has garnered that it won't be their last WB release.

well a covers lp from deftones sounds totally cool to me.maybe there are some more songs from the sessions they did for the diamond eyes bonus tracks.but if not a collection of the stuff we already have on one album maybe in better quality would be great as well.

What? Vinyl is usually the best quality.
let's see how many songs deftones do a cover in studio recording:
1. Savory (Jawbox cover)
2. Wax and Wane (Cocteau Twins cover)
3. Simple Man (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
4. Sinatra (Helmet cover)
5. No Ordinary Love (Sade cover)
6. Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want (The Simths cover)
7. The Chauffeur (Duran Duran cover)
8. To Have and To Hold (Depeche Mode cover)
9. Sweetest Perfection (Depeche Mode cover)
10. Night Boat (Duran Duran cover)
11. Jealous Guy (John Lennon cover)
12. Sleepwalk (Santo & Johnny cover)
13. Drive (The Cars cover)
14. Do You Believe (The Cardigans cover)
15. Ghost (Japan cover)
16. Caress (Drive Like Jehu cover)
Total Deftones covers length are 67 minutes
Total regular LP vinyl length are 90 minutes (45 minutes each side)
be positive guys, there are room for another cover songs ;)
What i am really hoping for is a "if only tonight we could sleep" studio version and to have that recorded with 8 strings will be monstrous.
i doubt we'll hear any new studio covers. for one, they wouldn't release them on a special edition vinyl (not really deftones style if you ask me), i can't see them doing any more than the 3 we got on DE during those sessions, and when have they had time to record any new ones since then?

I would say they probably have a few hidden away from early years. I mean.. no one outside the band/record company people/donk heard Black Moon til B-Sides and Rarities.. or Simple Man... it's possible they have a few songs we didnt know they covered.

I'm definitely super exicted about this! To get their covers on vinyl is teh sex. :D
But I have to burst your bubble and tell you that an average 12" running at 33&1/3rpm is 15-20min on each side. So it'll be more like a sampling, or best of the best.

If not, I'll post the same reply here as I did there:
"The UK one comes out to $18.52 after shipping.
Japan comes out to $23.00 to ship insured with tracking.
Both are just too much for a two track 7"
I could risk the uninsured and untrackable shipping but then I risk $11. Not a lot of money but if its stolen, I'm still out $11 that could be spent on something I can actually get."

Is that package insured or trackable? I could get that cheap too but god knows how long it would take to get to me or if it would even make it to me.
Like I said, I could get it for $11 too but that's an $11 gamble right there. If you chose the cheapest shipping method, your investment isn't very secure at all. Plus, the shipping time is estimated 2 to 4 weeks for that. In 2 to 4 weeks, let me know if you ever got the package. If so, maybe I'll consider getting it.
Again, $11 isn't a lot of money but its still $11 that could go toward a safer bet in terms of actually receiving what you pay for.

I like jealous guy too and would have preferred it to, let's say drive,on the LP ...but I begin to think- the song jealous guy was made to be on an Amnes ty International record to make money for people in need . the idea of the song is lost if deftones record company, warner, will be making money on the track when it was originally intended to make money for human rights and people in need. perhaps it's in a contract or something?
I don't know, just speculation
I'm disappointed with the tracklist but I can't say I'm surprised that they have picked these songs. Will defiantly be buying it though.
I already made this album :P but it had simple man and jealous guy.

I don't have it. I just saw the retail price list at one of my local shops. The dude let me look at his RSD order list so I could ask him to order specific stuff for me and I could see all these stats about each release including "Cost" and "MSRP." The MSRP was about $23 if I remember correctly.
Hmmm.. 25$ would be resonable price. I would pay that.. if it's around 35 like some says, than.... I have to strongly think about that..
A Deftones cover of Siva? Now that would be fucking awesome! Where did you hear that from Rock?
they were supposed to be on a smashing pumpkins cover tribute album, but i read in a interview they never recorded the song cuz they were busy with something else. so it was only early plans. Bummer!

I don't know about you but I find $23 to be a raping for a single LP.
I don't know why I started that sentence with "I don't know about you" considering I DO know about you (at least as far as this issue is concerned) and you clearly just stated how you feel about the pricing lol......but I'm sure you know what I mean by that.
Yea, I know what you think, but in my country, where every new album on CD costs from 20 to 30 $ @ store... 25$ for that vinyl.. Hell, you don't want to know how much it would cost here.. i bet on 40<

"The Remainder (if exists) of Record Store Day Titles will be available online starting April 17th"
http://www.sonicboomrecords.com/ (http://www.sonicboomrecords.com/)
pd: this store have international preorders via ebay
Sweet can't wait to grab this thing tomorrow.
post in this thread about what record stores have a lot of copies or none at all once you drive out to the stores on saturday. I'll be hitting up some record stops in LA looking for a copy or two
Just came home from record store day with my brand new Covers LP. The vinyl sounds awesome but it came with a price, 26,90 euros. I converted in dollars, 38 87 dollars. Man, record store day is just the last desperate act of the record business to cash in some money. The record has no inlay sheet with lyrics or any data about the songs. No download card like with the Diamond Eyes LP. Good luck with the hunt guys and gals! Now, a cup of black coffee and Deftones. Perfect.

Me too. :)
£22.99 in the UK.
Also picked up blue vinyl Quicksand 7"
just got back from the shop with my copy. they sold out of mastodon's live at the aragon within the first 25 minutes and i missed out. pretty bummed out about that but i got the 7" zz top / mastodon split, the syd barrett double lp and the rush 7". not a bad haul but i was really looking forward to the mastodon one. the guy working said they'll be getting more in so hopefully i can still get one.
I paid £24.99. Crazy.
i paid $24.99 CDN.
I paid $25.99 USD.
I'm f. g pissed man!!!...waited in line for like 3 hours...what felt like eternity .....just for the deftones LP ....no dice....man f..k...streetlight !!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(......seems like they didn't even have that much .

you beauty.
Not many copies left though, this was one of the last left of all the record stores in london
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/ajay_/IMG_2546.jpg)
I didn't manage to get this. my local store had sweet fuck all except for Mastodon's new live LP / DVD for £44.99.. . .fuck that.
£23 is an absolute rip off for 1 x LP... lets be honest though - this whole record store day bullshit is all about the people who don't usually buy records. ... unless they are super r@re limited edition. hey ho.

hhmmm... i'd consider myself a REAL deftones fan and it doesn't suck at all for me.
My store is in the middle of hick town Ohio and it had at least 10+ copies
I got my copy at amoeba for 21$. Will post pics as soon as I can.
no luck here either, they didnt even have a single copy of it... i now hope it gets leaked...
yeah the store i went to had a bunch and i live in east coast canada, nobody gives a shit about the maritimes! i'm thinking i should have picked up a back up copy. maybe tomorrow.
every shop in hollywood/los angeles was sold out by 2pm :( spent 4 hours looking for one. glassjaw was sold out too. got the last circa survive appendage ep though for 13
I downloaded this and then thought why the fuck did i download this, theres no point. Thats when I knew the brownies were taking effect.
haha, i ate some special cookies before i went snowboarding today. i was tripping the fuck out.
my copy ships on monday!
I got this from Reckless in Chicago. Most of the people in line around me also picked this up. Tried to get another for a friend but no one else had it. That store had sold out of W&T by the time I came up in line but I managed to score the last copy of it at a different Reckless location about half an hour later. I was so stoked and still am. It sounds amazing. Have yet to spin Covers though. Grabbed two copies of Appendage. One for a friend. Just spun it a while ago and it sounds amazing. 45 RPM all the way. Love it. The vinyl definitely injects a new life into what I had felt was a somewhat lackluster offering.
Just grabbed another Deftones 'Covers' for €22.99 from Tower Records Ireland :)
Just scored one from eBay for $47AU.
Whooo!!!

Does anyone know what 'Direct-to-Board' is?
I think it's referring to the print / press of the cover.

Yes. This.
Cheers.
Just listening to an MP3 rip of this, are these slightly different versions of the existing covers that have been released before? 'Drive' seems like it's not just a new mix down but a very slightly different version? Is this true of the whole LP? Or are my ears deceiving me? Cheers :)

i think "please let me get what i want" have a little diference (better mixing, sound, no matter...) with the bsides version.
I think its just all the same versions as we know guys. Listen closly
Who in the United States wants to check the back of the sleeve for me?
Is it different from my version? Mine is made in the E.U.
I want to know if there are different versions around...
See my pic:

On the record it says 'Manufactured in The Netherlands' on mine.
Bought in UK.
That's so weird haha, i'm from the Netherlands and I got this version haha

Homemade eh!
I bought mine here in Italy and it says "printed in Canada", I don't know where my record store got it from, though... :-\
Thats cool, does the LP label say printed in Canada too? I'd like to know for a discography im compiling.
I just went to the post office to grab mine today..... 8)
And it does say the same
I just ordered mine off ebay at inflated prices... that also included the shipping. Can anyone comment on the pressing? whats it sound like? and is there an inner sleeve with lyrics or pics etc etc.

Cant comment on the sound (keeping mine sealed) but would also like to know about the inner sleeve.
(its tearing me up not being able to open it...)
Also - are there individual numbers included anywhere in the packaging?
(always sceptical about "limited editions"...)
I got both pressings now,
- one from Canada
- one from the E.U.
Heres some pics of the E.U. version. There is no inner sleeve....

Hi all,
I got my (EU) copy yesterday. The album is great, record sounds fine, except it's a bit warped and off-center. Don't know what to do. I'm afraid if I return it for replacement I might end up with a worse copy than I already have.
BJRed: keeping your new records sealed is not a very good idea. I find the quality of new vinyl nowadays horrible, either warped, or scratched, dirty, etc.
i have the LP too and mine is made in the E.U.
does somebody have a mp3 rip of the LP? I want it on my iPod
#blackholesun,
I open all my LP's, I keep shrink wrap on though, was desperate to see the inside due to mine not arriving to my side of the world for a couple of weeks.

lol god forbid you might actually play it?!
I find interesting that the recording and production on all covers (except please please) was credited to Terry D. So that means that do you believe & ghost were recorded during the eros days (maybe?)
For those who missed out on the Covers LP, you can purchase it from some person in the UK who received some extra ones. I'm fixing to purchase myself one, since I believe it comes out to $25.32 with shipping and handling for me. That is dirt cheap considering how much they're going for now.

thanks for the heads up, just ordered a copy.
has anyone ever ordered from here? are they legit?

Yes, they're legit. Keep in mind that it's coming from the UK. I don't know where you're located but obviously international shipping takes time. If for some reason you do end up having a problem, Paypal always refunds buyers as long as a claim is filed within 45 days.
cool, thanks for the info.
compared with the prices of eBay, this site is very cool
Yea, it's legit. I received mine 2 days ago.
I just ordered mine, hope it arrives soon!
just bought a copy of worship and tribute
I like everything you ever wanted to know about silence better.
still waiting on my shipment from muempire. i can't reccomend them, they don't respond at all to emails. first time to get something shipped internationally, ya'll think 14 business days is too long?? i'm trying to hold out before filing a claim on it.

Most of international shipments are longer than 14 days. They usually arrived between 15-25 days, but I live in Argentina, maybe you're near than I do.
